Yep these cars are useless for carrying 2 kids. My children are smaller than yours but I need some legroom which I don't think the GR will offer. Nuts how a 911 is more practical.

Was half thinking about getting one to sit alongside the Porsche but wasn't entirely sold on it so didn't bother.
Would a GR Yaris offer better practicality / rear space for 2 kids vs the GR86 / 911?
A bit but not ideal, it has similar issues regarding rear space due to the lowered roofline and equal issues in boot space due to 4wd and battery in the boot

I wonder why you seem to be ahead of everybody else?
As I was in the first 35 that placed orders the weekend before, but I get the impression these cars are being batch produced so will all arrive at a similar time, I’d imagine they will be sequenced by colours to a degree anyway.

Ah! That makes sense. What colour did you go with?

Likewise, hopefully that will be the first colour on the boat over! :-)

Just had welcome call after missing various earlier calls, they checked and said my car had now also been allocated a ‘stock number’ suggesting it’s build was imminent - does anybody know process well enough to comment. I already had an orca number etc. Being told June-July by dealer and August-September by TGB..
Hi Bennno, well done for getting to the front of the que it looks like you guys that managed to order when the configurator went live early have been lucky, I did it old school and tried to order from a dealer which as we know now was the wrong thing to do, I did manage to order online but as yet have heard nothing from Toyota since confirming my order on the 20th, has anyone else had any more communication?
It's the lack of communication that's frustrating if the entire 2 year production run is sold out it would be nice if we had some indication of how long a wait for delivery if it's 2 year's I think everyone would rather know, or are Toyota keeping us in the dark in the hope some customers will get fed up & cancel so as to release some vehicles onto the waiting list?

I've got a confirmed order and they've taken the deposit but I've not had any other communication from anyone as yet.

Some of the comments here are bizarre.

The guy is 58, registered his interest a long time ago, didn't get an email about the online order, doesn't live on car forums all day.

I would have thought that walking into a dealer, sitting down, paying £1000, paperwork signed/ID etc is more thorough, especially after doing this over a week before an online launch the dealer didn't even mention.

Dealer or Toyota, whoever it is as an entity, they've fked up and should acknowledge this. I would expect nothing less than to be first in line on any cancelled orders.

Must say that Toyota UK handling is pretty poor, their online PR is vague at best. Compared to when they released the GR Yaris which was superbly done this is poor, I do wonder if their long term head of PR leaving has left a gaping chasm?

For my part ordered last Wednesday, paid a £1k deposit and have no idea when we’ll see it, despite the promises of July/ August in the run up to ordering. Real first World issues I know and plenty more important things going on but if they move to October ish I’m not sure I’ll bother?

It’s the dealers that have messed up and as they don’t control the waitlist they can’t just bump them up the line.

So checking that I had properly registered on the waiting list I got this from Toyota

We are very glad to hear of your interest in our Toyota GR86 model, as you may be aware the allocation for the 2 year period was fulfilled and this has now been moved to a waiting list online. We cannot confirm if a new allocation will be released

What I take from that for all that missed out is that they haven’t denied that there will be a future release.

Yes I have a hand full of straws that I am holding tightly.

Until this car has 250 hp and 250 ft lb i dont see how exciting it can be, especially when you can pick up an mx5 for a lot less, it does look nice though.
As an MX-5 ND owner I can assure you that it’s not really cheaper, a top of the range MX-5 RF is now £35k. I’d still rather have my MX-5 RF though even with less power.

Or conversely, they also specifically aren’t suggesting there’s any likelihood of future releases, all very odd.

@pistonheads can you start a petition that we can all sign to try to get more GR86 sent to the UK? I’ve seen you have done one similar for the Corolla GR. Thanks

I know the differences in ordering between countries has been major but I've also heard from my dealership today that my car should be delivered in June or "worst case" July.

As I see that tallies with what you are hearing in the UK it could be that this first batch for Europe are all coming in on the same boat.
