Yup.

Google "new Aston Martin Lagonda SUV".

Maybe so but think on that when you're offered a 2 litre turbo Aston one day.

The worst part is, the Toyota is actually a good car in its own right. At least if it was utterly ste the Cygnet might come off as some short of self-referencing humour.

As it is, the car is merely incomprehensible. Want an optional extra to go with your Aston? Buy a set of golf clubs or a branded squash bag, not a cosmetically abused city car. It won't fit on your bloody key-ring or in the back of your DBS!

It's comprehensible solely as a means of complying with stupid legislation on group average emissions.

What is not comprehensible is the use of the Aston badge. That is depressingly stupid.

Oh, I can see why they're doing it on many levels. But I don't think any of them make real sense - stupid legislation, corporate complacency / laziness and misguided marketing have led to this.

Astons probably account for some of the lowest overall mileages next to Fezzerati and Lambotinis. I'd rather see a more traditional model with hybrid drive than a 1.3 Toyaston.

But we haven't seen a Fiat badged as a Ferrari (not counting the 500 Ferrari edition, which was given out to Ferrari dealers as a curtosey car) or a Skoda with a Lambo badge on it, they'll no doubt play the niche card, which is what Aston should have done.

Are you agreing with me? I'm struggling to understand.

The Viat and VW groups can average models across their groups. Aston should do the same thing on a smaller basis using a badge other than Aston Martin.

I think the only way they could get away with it is if they didn't make it too serious - made it completely mad. If they approached the thing with a sense of humour and fitted a 300bhp engine they might get away with it.

Can't wait for the Vantage and Vol-au-vante versions. Maybe even a 4 door Rapaedo version.
