Any love for the Evoluzione?
It's certainly not as beautiful or desirable as the 288 that came before it or the F40 that came after it. Significant though because of those models that bookend it smile
Collectible though.

Of the three built, I believe 9 survive.

Wow... Really?

Did the 300 skid marks on the road in all the Gymkhana videos not give the game away? Block drove each and every one of those corners relentlessly for hours at a time in a purpose-built car. This looks like it was done in one take, so in that sense these boys are better drivers than Ken Block by a country mile.

I was comparing (unfavourably) the slightly graceless donut slides to Ken Block's effortlessly skilful Gymkhana displays, not the value of the cars involved.
So you didn't see the long skid marks on the farm track, or all the black marks in the barn?

Do you think that Top Gear is unscripted?

Hi mate - I loved the F50 and its infinitely got more of everything compared to the 288. The 288 is looks only IMO. I sold it though because I love useable cars. I love cars that I can take out no matter what the road and no matter what the weather. I live in Wilts where we have lots of small B roads. I could rarely get the most out of the F50 on those roads, it was always a jog rather than a sprint. The car was just too big and wide, to rev hungry too. It genuinely felt like a LM car for the road. Ultimately I decided that I'd have more fun in cars I can really afford. Such as my GT3. I didn't have to be precious about it.

That's why I like this video. Its so refreshing that someone who can clearly afford their car uses it how they see fit, in this case as a means with which to entertain us. People have become obsessed with worth, value, rarity etc and have forgotten cars of this sort were actually built to have fun with.
Great reply from someone who knows, pretty much sums it up really. smile

Again, who's suggesting that these cars would be better parked up and not driven?

I guess it comes down to what impresses you. Driving a car on the road or track or doing a McDonalds car park special.

If this was being ragged up mount ventoux, i'd love it.
So instead of being driven fast on a private road you want to see it going slower on a public road?

fk me. Some people are never happy.

Except they're not being driven in 50 yards worth of public carpark, are they. There's enough space to drive them properly, and they are doing.

It's nothing like McDonalds carpark, not even close.

fk me. He did not say he wanted to see it being driven slower. It's because the video is a bit st ! , fun to make, I bet, risky with a very expensive and rare car (but if you are rich enough then that don't mater), some skill in driving (and editing),

But it's still a bit st

You even quoted me. Where did you get that from? I never said anything about slower. Even so, if it was a string of slower corners it was being accelerated out of with the tail wagging as it does it, perfect.

Driving fast in a straight line, locking up the brakes then going slowly round in circles making your tyres screech is exactly the preserve of a ned in a carpark trying to impress his peers.

Excellent video IMHO, long may they keep producing them.
I wonder how many people realise that the income you can get from popular Youtube videos will PAY for one of those things...

To say that I am envious is such a hopeless understatement as I am frankly turning a very funny green colour.

It's not just that they get to drive the car - it's also that they care so much less than me about them. I see these things as borderline priceless - they just see a bit of kit - like all the racing drivers I met who saw a car as just a tool of the trade no matter how beautiful.

Fair do's!!

It is quite entertaining when it's done by a Ferrari 288 GTO on a farm, though.

I'm not sure why some people are so bothered by this.

It's a car. It's a nice car. It's an old performance car.

It's still a car, though.

It's good to see it used.

1000s of people have lost their lives and 1,000,000s have lost their homes and all of their possessions in a recent disastrous weather event in the Philippines. Terrible thing happen every day.

Think about it, eh?

~20 million total views and 70k subscribers. They could be making a few grand a month out of it. Like you say, they're not buying any more GTO's with the money.

Dollars and pounds of course - and yes, it all depends how quickly they got partnered (tho the Enzo video was pretty-much guaranteed to get it if the RR one didn't - they've both featured almost everywhere).

Of course it's much harder making videos with expensive cars in them that it is staring into a camera with your hipster hair and your hipster face and making whiny hipster statements which appears to be the de-facto way to make money on YouTube...

Kevin the Teenager would have killed it.

Vids are a bit cheesy after they started puting a bit of effort into the production, had a nicer feeling when they went for a good old fashioned hoon without a reason (Phantom vid I think it was). The cars are lovely all the same and it's fun to see someone enjoying them. Sadly they are not blessed with a TG-level production crew with some fresh ideas, but I certainly appreciate they've made them.

Cars like this are all about having fun. As long as they are having fun, good luck to them.

Always loved the 288 GTO and enjoyed the vid. If I had the funds I would find room for one in my collection but I suspect that its dirty older sister would actually be more fun for this type of shenanigins biggrin
