Black wheels - am I wrong?

I'd argue there's nowt wrong with the appearance of this. As said, tyres need to be kept blacked though.

In reply to op I totally agree 10 years ago it was quite rare to see cars with black wheels. It was normally only seen on sporty cars and I used to think it looked cool and sporty but now the majority of the time it just looks chav and tacky. We have Vauxhall to thank for that with the stupid limited edition only 1 billion made Corsa’s that came with black wheels standard and have ruined the rarity now every black or white car seems to have black wheels.
As someone else mentioned unless you keep your tyres blackened on a weekly basis they look faded and brown coloured almost against glossy black alloys.

Can't agree, you've done it all wrong imo. Cack wheel design, de ambered, and black wheels with black paintwork, which gives absolutely no contrast and turns the car into a single morass of black.None taken about your opinion of the wheels, but if you know anything about the brand, you'll know they're also exceptionally lightweight, with the obvious benefits that brings. The difference in unsprung weight is significant enough to be noticeable. The design was a secondary consideration, fortunately I don't find them offensive. They were used, and came recently refurbished in black. I almost returned them to silver, but I'm glad now I didn't, as it just adds to the general " as under the radar as it's possible to get in an Evo " approach. Given your kind comments about them, it's a bit ironic that you should complain about them being black. The " cack design " would be easier to see in silver, so, ironically, I appear to have got something right by doing something wrong in your eyes!
I have no argument to give with regard to the amber lights other than I prefer it without them. Fortunately, it's mine, and I get to make that decision. If it's any consolation, everything else I own has silver wheels and amber lights!
You are genuinely the first person to criticise the cars appearance to that degree in the 15 years I've owned it, and it's looked like that for many of them. " " Evil " is usually peoples first reaction, which, given how friendly it is to drive, is a bit of a contradiction really. Still, opinions vary!
Thanks for posting, I found it quite amusing, and despite the above outpouring ( I felt an explanation might help, didn't realise I'd gone on about it this long though! ), I've had the car long enough to be quite relaxed about criticism of it, as I'm more bothered about how quickly it can get around a corner.
Sorry for the long post.

Hmm, I'll apologise in advance as it's impossible to post what's coming next without appearing to be a patronising tosser. That's not intended, however, you've missed the point of what I want from the Evo on almost every level. It's not a great looking car to start with ( imo ), and black tends to help with offsetting that. The other reason I chose a black one is because when it was new, an Evo received more than enough attention, and an eye catching colour was something I was happy to do without. I wanted the car, not the kind of attention that driving it as intended can generate. Therefore, it's also deliberately not noisy, has no decals, and barely any badges. So far, so good, I drive it like I stole it when possible, clean license thus far. Plus, I happen to like black cars, which helps.

A murdered out car attracts attention though - it hardly blends in, except at night...Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
