I don't know whether or not it was a mis-print, but this morning's Telegraph article did make me laugh. Apparently, whilst millions will be worse off under the new tax bands, 463 people will benefit from the zero tax band for smaller engined cars. That's ok then, just so long as they're not ripping everyone off.... rolleyeshehe

TBH I'm not looking for a lot from the Tories if (when) they take the reins. Never mind wanting them to make things better, I'd be happy if they could just stop things getting worse on a daily basis.........
If you seriously think the Tories, LibDems or anyone else will make life better for the ordinary car-loving driver then I'm afraid you (we) will all be disappointed.

With you 100%. But if Labour get in again, I think we should still party, a lot, and just stay pissed until the next election - it may be the only way to get through it and retain a modicum of sanity.

I've owned a number of sports cars, clio 172 cup, Honda s2000 etc. But last year went back to a Mitsubishi Evo IV, now running 370hp! Only pay 180 pa tax, and will only pay 200 in 2010. I think people will start to hang on to pre 2001 cars with no Co2 assigned to them. My daily drive is audi 100, £180 pa tax. If I kept the 2002 172 cup, I would be paying 300 by 2010. The clio has 194 co2, and the evo, well 350/400 co2

Anyone who thinks the shower of sh*t are only as bad as all other UK parties clearly comes from another planet, that or they are on benefits, and dont want to see their `income' dry up.

i have a large people carrier registered 2001, the purpose of which is not to damage the environment but cause i have 4 young children, my tax jumping up at over £150 a year makes a joke of the goverments pledges to help families, if i could fit them all in a cinquecento then i would, but i cant and its people like us who are being penalised as a result cause we have no choice but to drive big vehicles.
