Now thats a car i really want and id keep it for several years maybe more.
I'd be buying several tickets on that.
Not a fan of the colour but if I win it for peanuts I wont complain!

Nice to see PH winning.

Please pass on your luck my way!

so the person who won 5000 tickets in sub draw didn't win main prize on Elite.

Anyone had any success with processing of postal entries on Elite? They have some crazy high entry prices with lower odds so would be good to get a couple of entries.

They're consistently the worst of the big sites. Particularly for the high price/low odds stuff.

I've had no luck with my M2 postal entry. Rev Comps haven't processed anything either

Rev Comps pretty much always process them a few hours before the draw regardless of how early you post them. They claim to put numbers aside so as long as you get it in whilst tickets are available it should be fine, but hit rate can still be iffy.

On the BOTB website, there appears a large number of cars ending in just over a day. Is that standard procedure? That’s hugely more than other companies. I can’t see any max ticket sales / tickets sold already, stats? Do those stats appear if I sign up?

Botb isn't a lottery system like the others, you buy a ticket which is priced based on the car you want, so a Golf might be £3 and a Lambo £25, then you do a spot the ball competition and whoever wins that out of all the entries gets their choice of car, so it's only ever one car a week that gets won there.

Twice, now that they do a midweek draw.

Thanks. Yes, I remember now how BOTB differed from the rest. IIRC, that method absolves them from offering free entries. So that countdown timer is only applicable to one vehicle, despite it appearing in every vehicle you click on. Crafty.

The countdown is displayed at the top of the page and then the same countdown is displayed on each car within that competition.
Not sure what is crafty about that ?

Yep BotB is technically a game of skill so no need to offer free entries. The test is that a large percentage of entrants will not 'pass the test', which is clearly the case for a spot the ball competition.

All the other sites are free competitions with a paid entry route. They don't need to ask a question and the questions asked would never pass the game of skill test anyway, so I've no idea why they do! The 'free' bit is supposed to be as prominent as easy as the paid entry route, I don't think a single site passes that particular requirement.

Stevil explained it to me very well, so I’ve no excuses. There’s a choice of cars as prizes. You choose the car you want, pay whatever ticket price that car commands. So all those cars are relevant to the latest competition. Got it.

Thanks for explaining. On the comp websites I've seen lately, the free route appears to have become more prominent of late? Who is in charge of policing all these comps?

Nobody because they're free so aren't technically gambling smile

The Gambling Comission, would, in theory get involved if they stray into becoming an illegal lottery as it would then fall under their jurisdiction. The test for a free draw, which all these companies apart from BotB are running, is as follows:

If you run a free draw with a paid entry route, you must make sure that:
- people can choose to take part without paying
- the free entry route can be no more expensive and must be no less convenient than the paid route
- the free entry route must be promoted and displayed at the same level as the paid for routes
- the choice between the free entry route and the paid entry route must be promoted so that people who want to participate can see it
- the system that determines prizes should not recognise the two routes as different.

Find me a single site that ticks all those boxes!

I think these rules were written with occasional phone competitions on TV shows etc in mind, not really fit for purpose when it comes to companies set up specifically to sell hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of tickets every week with absolutely no oversight.

I've heard of a few people putting in complaints but have gone through the ASA instead, which makes sense given heavy online advertising is the lifeblood of these sites.

Wow, 200,000 tickets on 7days for that RS6 draw. Be interesting to see if they get anywhere near sold.
