Ban artics at peak hours, it's the only simple solution and would ease congestion. I'm sure people could cope. As it is, most town or city centre shops etc can not support deliveries during the day unless the HGVs are parked on double yellows, blocking traffic or on the pavement...

Nice to see you're defending your mate also as I can see his ugly mug on your profile photo - MAMIL's United ....... thumbup
Lolz, never had a stalker before. I'm not defending him, just emphasizing why he has a point. That you're more intetested in outing our lycra-clad relationship than discussing my argument I assume you've got nothing?
Don't flatter yourself re stalker smile

And you're right I have nothing. Not even sure I know what you're point is as once I saw you mistake me for the OP I switched off. I was too busy chastising your boyfriend for trolling wink

As for me, I hate cyclists who ride like tts and are self righteous and mouth off. I also hate drivers who drive like tts and are self righteous and mouth off. Oh and I hate horse riders who ride like tts and are self righteous and mouth off. Etc.

Not quite sure why you feel the need t be so prickly, but never mind. Do you not think the things I've listed contribute to dangerous driving and accidents, and as another poster has point out most people will self-police because they don't want to cause damage or harm to themselves and others?
Sorry I didn't mean to be prickly. I was responding purely to a dangerous driving comment that I read to be dangerous driving, basically not being policed, which though you are perfectly correct in saying such offences as mobile phones can contribute they were not in my thinking.

Rofl all you want. Appeal to ridicule all you want. There are higher priority uses of police time than attending these events which are low impact in terms of their absolute impact.

Can you read? The cyclist is impinging on other road users by being unable to keep up with other road users. What can't you understand in this sentence?
Yes thanks, spacktard.

O-v-e-r-t-a-k-e the cyclist. Unless your spacktard car or spacktard brain means you can't.

Why? Because I don't subscribe to the view that a relatively infrequent and low consequence event should have a higher police priority? Or because I think there is more that can be done about road safety without resorting to minority report future magic?

I think all cyclists should have to have a driving licence or at least some other other form of test. Allowing someone who has no concept of road craft to pick up a bike and ride through a major city seems madness to me.

I also support compulsory retesting of car driver's on a periodic basis.

You're one of that minority. Are you identifying yourself as a troll?

No, because I'm not one of the militant cyclist type posters that we're talking about. Do try to keep up at the back!

I'd agree with that.

I'm a motorist, always have been, recently though i've been doing a bit of cycling. The problem between motorists and cyclists is arrogance, ignorance, lack of empathy, consideration and just generally 'fk you, you , I've got right of way, you haven't'.

I'm cycling the other day up a one way street with cars parked down one side, it's uphill and i'm slow. Behind me I can hear 'Duff duff duff, boom boom boom', I glance round and there is some kid in a Corsa who can't pass.

So what to do?

I hopped up onto the deserted pavement via a lowered kerb, Corsaboy comes past slowly. I look across at him and he grins and gives me the thumbs up for letting him through, job done.
It's as easy as that.

Oh, so a troll is only a troll if they ride a bike and disagree with the PH massive, right?

If you look at the posts where I've been accused of being a troll, my posts have been calm, unconfrontational, unambiguous, and uninflammatory. So how does that make me a troll? Or is it simply the case that referring to someone as a troll is a convenient deflection tactic?

Would you agree Mr Gear is a troll?

On this thread, he even admits it

In all your contributions to PH have you ever criticised any cyclist for their behaviour? Or are you just another inane last word specialist who can't admit that snow is indeed white?

No, sorry. Believe it or not, whether cycling or driving I am a legitimate road user who just wants to get somewhere, which I'm never going to if I have to jump onto the pavement and cycle there illegally every time a car wants to pass.

Your approach just reinforces what appears to be a common attitude of drivers that cyclists do not deserve to use the roads, despite having every legal right to do so...

I was talking about your accusing me of being a troll, not Mr Gear. On PH I have previously criticised cyclists for their behaviour. I have repeatedly explicitly not supported the event that toxicnerve encountered. So why does that make me a troll?
