I love the russian roulette of keeping a really expensive plate on an old car... 1 bad MOT away from being lost forever!

DVLA will allow a plate to be transferred off if it's less than 12 months since either the Tax or MOT has expired

I'm not sure if my eyes were playing tricks, but I think I saw 1 MCL a couple of days back.

But it was on a BMW i8.

Sounds feasible. If I owned 1 MCL, I wouldn't want to sell it on with the car. It's probably for sale for mega-dosh and he's retaining it on his i8.

Just reminded me, I spied 1 OUD on a McLaren 675LT at Blenheim Palace in September. Cool plate, cool car.

Got this from dvla auction recently. Im really really pleased with it and i think its almost 'really' good. Still on retention as waiting for lease company paperwork so did a little test fit). J45 per I'm told sold for significantly more than i paid a lot of years ago.

Perhaps that's because a 4 can be read as an A and a 5 as an S wink

A 6 is either a B or a G.

I don't know many peeps called JBSPER or JGSPER, but I have heard of Robert Norman Davis OBE smile

Ill give you that yes, however imo its pretty clear what its meant to say. Ive shown it to quite a few mates some of which are proper number plate haters and they've all agreed its good (especially for the money).
Another example is reg transfers have j445 per up for 9k! everyone I've shown them to think this is better.

I did see that but i was told it sold for 18k a few years ago. Maybe it was up for 18? and didn't sell, Not sure if its possible to tell what something has sold for beyond dvla auctions.

Have you noticed all Mercedes-Benz dealer fitted plates have 4 screws?

the body is drilled to accept the four bolts on Mercs ... they must use a template to drill the plate

I asked for new plates for my wife's car to be stuck on and MB said no. If they were to fit them, the plates would be drilled. Next time if I want them stuck on I'll have to do it myself.

The First World Problems thread should hear of this.

Mercedes Nottingham use a plastic surround/mount that the plates fit in to and are secured in place.

The only first world problem this gives me is the rattle when you close the boot.
