Mine had some sort of metal plate fronted with plastic stuff. They went when I put my plate on & I'd have changed them anyway. I'm not a mobile bill board for the dealer!!

Why would I do that? Everyone knows a BMW, Audi or whatever anyway

Dealer would not advertise my business for free, so why should I drive around advertising theirs?

But if you read threads on here, every car looks the same these days? So would people know?

Legal, but a tad chavvy.
Other than the fact that according to the DVLA, the plate isn't registered to any car.

Got this from dvla auction recently. Im really really pleased with it and i think its almost 'really' good. Still on retention as waiting for lease company paperwork so did a little test fit). J45 per I'm told sold for significantly more than i paid a lot of years ago.

I hope you didn't pay more than £200 for that? I'm not sure it belongs in this thread at all.

Something that really caught my eye in my local pub car park on a Jaguar XJ from the late ‘90s:

JWC 1

Dark blue with cream leather and on (I assume) the original dealer plates. Looked so, so well.

It's naff because it spells JGSPER.

There are all manner of cheap and naff misspellings:

JA55 POR would have saved you £1750 and probably been clearer (still naff mind).

Cor, you lot are harsh on here hehe

You see i think ja55por looks nothing like jasper. Neither does the 9k plate j445per. Of course id love j45per but i reckon this is the best ill get. of course a 6 isn't an a but imo the plate reads jasper, without having to have silly spacings or funny shaped letters/bolts.

Anyway, i reckon some of you lot might not observe these dvla auctions. Some of the sold prices for complete tat that needs butchering sell for incredible amounts of money.

I saw g50 rge, it was on about 7.5k plus fees the day before auction end so i don't know what it went for.

I quite liked g24ace as a cheap future plate for my daughter. I went to 1k and iirc it went for around 2.3k plus fees!

Plates are a bit like politics.... there's always going to be difference of opinions, some more extreme than others and just like politics you just ignore most of it.... You clearly seem very happy with your new plate,it's not misspaced, totally legal so just enjoy it,it's all just a bit of Fun which some do ignore.....yes

Yes but I think we can agree that none of J65PER, JA55POR, G24ACE can be classified as "real good" or even good.
I have a couple of £250-500 registrations bought from the DVLA, they mean something to me/my wife and we're happy with them, doesn't mean they belong on this thread though.

TBH, when I saw your plate I didn't think 'Jasper', I just assumed your initials were PER! Even if you compressed it to read J65PER I'd not think 'Jasper', but fair play for not doing this.

I did say I'm not sure j65per is 'really good' its obviously no 1J but at the same time it appears to say my name so i think its good.

I also think its a bloody good investment for the future. Name plates are always worth a lot 9 people bid on this one and i only won it by £30, as i said someone paid a lot for g50 rge among others.
Problem with many of those plates now is in 30 years there might not be a lot of steves, daves and marks. Jasper though is now a pretty popular boys name. so I'm hoping when i need some money later in life ill have that hehe I might well be wrong but like craig says its a bit of fun so who really cares.

And when I saw it, I saw "Jasper" so we are each to our own.

Plates only offend me when actually butchered, slanted letters, dots, spacing etc.
