To be fair a lot of the 'incidents' on most of these compilation videos could easily be drivers finding themselves in the wrong lane because they are in an area that they are not familiar with. I'm not saying that how they then choose to extricate themselves is not poor, but I am sure that we have all been there.

But that isn't stated in the Highway Code is it? What happens if the road closure is in the form of an abrupt stop like the highway lorries? What do you do then? The KA merged in turn, the white Audi as you have written yourself "went infront of the KA" I can't quite understand where that is merging in turn.

In an ideal world waiting until your at the cones would be good but nothing is ever ideal, does that mean the Audi drivers have the right to then push in? Is it wrong that the KA decided to move into lane in good time? Like stated it was probably 50ft of clear carriageway, hardly like the KA merge 600 yards before the closure.

You could also say that with your reply your being a "bloody internet captain" or is that ok but he can't do it in case of a challenge by another person?
Yes, it is. Rule 134 recommends merging in turn at roadworks, as backed up by the sign in the video.

Highway Code Rule 134 said:
You should follow the signs and road markings and get into the lane as directed. In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily. Merging in turn is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a road traffic incident. It is not recommended at high speed.
All the quoting of overtaking rules in earlier posts is spurious. The video displayed merge in turn until the DCW decided to be obstructive.

Lane 2 white Audi >
Lane 1 Ford KA >
Lane 2 Grey Audi >
Lane 1 DCW

That's how it should have gone. Instead we had Lane 2, Lane 1, Lane 1 screw you, oh dear... hehe

If the police can't prosecute because they can't identify the driver the law needs changing, anyone driving like that needs a ban to show them the error of their ways, if the registered keeper won't identify the driver the registered keeper gets the ban.

It's my life s like that are fking about with
Do wonder about the truck drivers behaviour too. Does seem as if he could have facilitated the merge better.

In qatar as I write this and here, every DCW would have a heart attack if they stuck to `my lane my speed I'm in the right'.

Not to excuse the wvm.

To be honest that was 50/50 with the white van man and the truckdriver

Oh those days I wish I had a head cam to record some stupid discussions with drivers.

I am out on my MTB doing my daily keep fit ride, downhill slope, single carriageway, usually reach 30 mph before you cant pedal any faster, and about 100 yards from the dual carriageway. Car coming up behind me, and there is no way it can safely pass me at 30 mph on a single carriageway.

Driver toots me, no prob, nothing I can do. At the junction I stop “She” winds down her window and this conversation goes something like this.

Why did you toot me?

You should have let me by

At 28 mph there is no way you can safely pass me

You weren’t doing 28, you weren’t peddling (Checked Cateye at home, max was 31 mph, and thats the only hill I ride down)

At 28 mph you can’t peddle any faster

You passed two passing places, you should have pulled in and let me pass.

(The place she refers to is about 6 ft long, and only about 130 yards from the end of the road, so does she think I will come to a halt and let her go)

Told her to read the highway code we have equal rights to the road, at which point she screams “Take you fking hand off my car, you are scaring my daughter”

Told her she was doing that by herself, wished a pleasant day, and went on my way.

How do you know it had a registered keeper? Could be shown in trade with no current keeper.

I call trolling on this post. No one would toot you as that road is probably not good for anyone over thirty miles an hour anyway regardless of car or bike. Its very unlikely anyone would want to overtake if you were actually doing thirty regardless of whether you were peddling or not.

I'd find it hard to believe you were going 30mph whilst trying to sell goods in a slightly shifty manner!

I am afraid you have totally lost me, what is the reference to trolling to do with anything, I certainly didn't use that word, please explain.

I just posted how it happened.

J64 got a bit of egg on his face last time he posted about cyclists, he seems to have a bee in his bonnet about them now.

Yeah - I bet he's gonna claim she followed him for an arbitrary distance, like 8 miles.........

The second clip at 0:30 is the A322 from the M3 J3 into Bracknell and it is a completely unconventional road layout which causes confusion. Traffic coming from the right has to cross a live lane and then finds itself in lane 2 on the dual carriageway hence this Jazz driver getting confused and moving to lane 1 into the path of rapidly approaching traffic. To make matters worse drivers approach in lane 2 and jink left at speed to circumvent the layout. I hate it.
That Jink left is like an impromptu swedish moose test! Commute daily on that stretch.

Maybe julian64 will apologise for misquoting me, no one should alter a quote. If your 8 miles is referring to my post, after our discussion, she went on her merry way.

Just for clarification, on my road bike, I often reach 36 down that road. It's narrow but the surface is quite good. Obviously if a vehicle comes the other way, I stop and wait on the grass sides. I have said my piece, just wait for the apology..............

Downhill that section is covered in about 30 seconds or less.

I was referring to a previous legendary custard releted thread where a motorist once claimed to have been blocked by a pair of cyclists for 8 miles at a speed of 10 miles per hour for a period of 48 minutes.

Cheers
