Citroën Traction Avant?

Possibly getting a bit heavy with into more in depth knowledge with these. It would be good to throw in a few more fun ones like "To be revealed at Paris" to keep all parties interested. Just a thought...

A Zust? From Italy. Carrying Archduke Ferdinand when he was shot.Being driven, I think, by a chaffeur who had been a GP winner in the past. (Szisz?)

Blimey, for years I thought it was a Zust, but I've just looked it up, and it was a Graf und Stift 18/32PS. Austrian by manufacture.

Clue One: A lot of cars could be said to change the way we drive but in a single day, this one could be said to have affected the political landscape of Europe.

Clue Three:

The philosopher Roland Barthes said that this Goddess looks as if it had "fallen from the sky".

(Yes, I'll make the next ones lighter if I get another crack! Struggling to get the difficulty level high enough to be challenging, but accessible enough to keep people involved.) smile

And Clue Three And A Half:

In Frederick Forsythe's book, this is the car that foiled The Jackal. smile

Yes Craigy. Well done.

Why did the Citroen DS change Europe's political landscape? By helping to foil the assassination of President Charles De Gaulle, and Frederick Forsyth used that event as part of his novel Day Of The Jackal.

(Maybe I'd made that a bit too inspecific/obscure? Thought people might enjoy being strung along for a bit.)

Yes, but your car was a detail in the Archduke's unfortunate fate and didn't alter the outcome. The outcome would have been the same for the Archduke in any contemporary car. Mind you, you came closest in concept to what I had in mind from my clue!

The DS saved De Gaulle's life and played a key part in the outcome. In any other contemporary car, he would have died.

Point taken and accepted.BTW all I can remember from the film is the Jackal driving his Giulietta Spyder into a barn and spraying it (blue?) from the original white, all in about 5 mins, and then driving off. Yeah, right!

Sorry - been spending a lovely weekend ill.

ETA: You're in medicine or something I think. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olecranon_bursitis - the thing itself isn't amazingly serious, but the nausea (because of the antibiotics) and pain when I touch my elbow are stopping me from sleeping, which turns a minor thing into a major impact.

Ouch. (And yes, you're right about how I earn a crust. Unusual to be on antibiotics for that one... which implie it's very painful indeed. My sympathies.)

Take your time and post when you're ready. smile

Stopping you from sleeping? We should've had a new car by now then!

You probably have no idea how close to the mark you are with that comment about buying cars!

I'm still not sleeping right but I'm on the home stretch with the antibiotics, meaning hopefully I won't feel ill so much.

On to the challenge-

Clue number 1:
You're looking for a car with a pretty bizarre engine and body.

Enzo ferrari stated that the e type was the most beautiful car, when launched in 1961, so im guessing at a 250gto which Bizzarrini had a hand in developing?????
