Thanks.
Agree, great thread. It's what PH is all about for me.
Good to see some of the unusual cars too

I doubt I'll ever sell my baby. Nothing beats jumping in her and ragging her senseless on a quiet summers (and not wet) morning.
Also pretty grand on road trips across the highlands and carrying large tvs.
Taken down in Cove on a barmy Sunday morning in November back in 2014.
I can't see myself letting go of my MK3 lexus gs300. Whenever I've fancied a change in the past I've looked around for something to replace it and I can't find anything that is comparable and ticks all the boxes. Sounds daft, I know. It's not the greatest, sportiest, rarest, coolest or most fun to drive car in the world. But I bloody love the big thing and you'll have to prise the keys from my cold dead hands
I said I would never sell my Scimitar GTE se5 that myself and my late father restored but fate had a different idea when it was damaged beyond repair by a driver who thought the stop line didn't apply to them.
Finally got around to getting another Scimitar GTE, SE6 variety this time, I cant see me parting with that considering the amount of time its taken me to finally get another one.

I mentioned my car (Monaro) earlier in the thread, then realised I also had my bike. Again nothing spectacular. A 2008 triumph Street Triple. I have owned it nearly 4 years, which is the longest I have owned anything! I have said for a long time I will never sell it. It isn't the fastest, but it's hilarious to ride, makes a fantastic noise, looks good IMO, and owes me nothing.

The variety of enthusiast cars and the celebration of them by all in this thread is fantastic.
It embodies EXACTLY what this site is all about imho.
FWD, RWD, 4WD, 4x4, turbo, N/A, jap, Yank, *caugh* french *caugh* ?
Doesn't matter one dot. All are celebrated and respected.
Truly outstanding.
Not just that, it's the background stories that really do it for me It embodies EXACTLY what this site is all about imho.

It's actually quite nice to read a thread where there are so many different cars, stories and contributors that isn't tarnished with any trolling or petty nit picking. Just goes to show that we're all different, we all have our own thoughts, feelings and opinions on what cars / bikes / vehicles that we hold dearly and it's great to see that being respected without any boorish behaviour. Totally agree, the stories behind these vehicles is what really makes the difference... none have just been bought because simply as one had the means or to keep up with the Jones', but instead all seem to have struck a chord in the owners hearts and for me that's what makes a proper car enthusiast. Some cars really do get under your skin.
Great work all!

"Photos of a cracking car collection..."
I was thinking that unless you've had a car for 10 + years, it's difficult to say if it's a real keeper or not. With your 2 posts, you've hinted at that. What a great collection. I'm sure 1 or 2 of the cars posted in your second list will become keepers. The differenc between someone liking cars and being a petrolhead is displayed fantastically on this thread. Love them!

Not one, but two, possibly three, and maybe even four....
My M635CSi which I've owned for a dozen years and my daughter will get in about fifteen years time as she loves it so much.....
Alpina B10 4.6 Touring that I wanted for years before it finally surfaced and I manged to buy it...
Then probably the Alpina B12 5.7 limousine as it's just such an accomplished family car....
And quite probably my tired old 635CSi which I've had for over twenty years now, kept alive and going and reasonably solid despite all the odds and nobody would give me tuppence for anyway...
Five years on and I've still got all mine - anyone else?My M635CSi which I've owned for a dozen years and my daughter will get in about fifteen years time as she loves it so much.....

I've had this since 1995 (23 years so far) and don't think it'll ever leave my ownership (and prices are continuing to climb!)
I've added something else, very recently, to my garage, which like the 2CV I can't see me selling (Don't tell the wife)Edited by chopper602 on Thursday 15th February 12:44

Can't see me getting rid of my S1. Upgrades and refreshes but never sell it... not sure what I would replace it with! Keeper until I can't bend enough to get in it.
Yep, and I parked in the exact same place last Friday, albeit a bit fresher and with the roof on!Definitely the Elise and GRY as they represent the last, best of something. Maybe my Alpina if I come to the conclusion nothing can replace it that does it as well, but a big, torquey, wafty electric continent cruiser shouldn't be a hard thing to make, surely? Guess it depends on the future of charging and petrol availability.
Have had this for coming up to 4 years now. It's been a bit of a roller coaster (to understate it a bit) and a massive wallet draining exercise but everything is now fixed. Meaning all the weak points and age related stuff is done. So no, this is never ever going.
Until something else breaks and I call it a tt...again

Yes but will probably sell as the ULEZ is being expanded to my area.
I'm outside the M25 but you'd be surprised what is ULEZ exempt; 2001 Alpina B10 V8, 4.6 V8, exempt
1997 Alpina B12 5.7, 5.7 V12, exempt
1995 Alpina B10 4.6, 4.6 V8, not exempt
1985 BMW M635CSi, 3.5 I6, exempt in 3 years (like below).
1982 BMW 635CSi, 3.4 I6, exempt now, also from RFT and MoT

I don’t have it just yet yet but with Porsche announcing the next 911 will be all turbo I suspect the 9000rpm redline 991.2 manual GT3 might be a high water mark for 911’s and therefore a keeper.
This aged well Yes. Still got my early Peugeot 306 (Launch date 20th March 1993, registered 6th April 1993 on a K plate). Demo + 1 elderly lady owner before me, 35,000 miles - been with me for 9 years in August, been in storage for 3 years, still starts runs and drives well. Can't let that go anywhere.
