I'm undecided on which was the most soothing.
My contenders were a 1978 Granada 2.8 Ghia, a 1985 Scorpio and a 1980 Mercedes W123 280e.
Thinking about it now probably the Merc. It just rode so smoothly with minimal road noise.
I bet the Scorpio was a bit of a come down after the Mercedes 280E. My contenders were a 1978 Granada 2.8 Ghia, a 1985 Scorpio and a 1980 Mercedes W123 280e.

And as the Scorpio was only 5 years old when I got it but the Merc was over 10 it didn't feel that much more special than the Scorpio.
Plus the Merc felt pretty pretty basic in spec after the Scorpio because Mercedes didn't even fit a stereo as standard! The Scorpio came with ABS, heated mirrors, front screen and front seats, plus electric seat adjustment front and rear and A/C!

Another S- Class
There was something about this S class I had for a few years as my work car... It always felt 'cozy' and protective. Black interior and I think it had some sort of 'scent' system. If I had a long journey I would always take this. Here it is at the long stay at Gatwick... after a tiring trip.. loosen the tie, light a cigar, pop on a bit of Bach and sail home... ahhhh...

Mine has the grey interior - at 130k and 11 years old it still has pretty much no wear.

Tempted by another...
Car that I've had is my G20 320d. Lovely, very quiet, very comfortable and I'm astonished at how far cars have come on tbh. But this car has the small wheels, soft leather seats and sound insulating glass. Lovely.
Me and my Dad had a look at a Toyota Camry the other day. So comfortable and I would be everything I have that it would be the most soothing car ever.
