High mileage cars for sale

^ The service was done for 'free' as rental companies seem to get rid of them on or about their first service. So as a main dealer we had to service it before sale. Most of our stock was Focus/Mondeos with 11500 odd miles on. 1st service was 12k.
You said they didn’t. Just stamped to book. C7 JFW said:
Wow.
I know of a rental car company that had a similar situation with a C-Class and @ 22k with no service, the car was expected to be a total loss.
I had better get Co Part to come and start collecting our cars rather than BCA. I know of a rental car company that had a similar situation with a C-Class and @ 22k with no service, the car was expected to be a total loss.
In reality you probably heard of a Mercedes that dropped out of the Daimler Benz Rental Buy Back agreement due to late or incorrect servicing which is rare as most still go back but the rental company takes a penalty.
Think it depends how the car is driven too. The A-Class I mentioned, it was absolutely on its arse at 36k. Driven hard from cold, screwing the bks off it every day since brand new, lots of short journeys, the oil was like tar. Engine management light came on at about 14k and was just ignored, power steering ended up failing, heaters packed up, parking sensors had a mind of their own.. Not sure how much exactly was spent getting it drivable again but it was at least £1500.
^ What I meant was that it was free- didnt cost customer. Then again as the service wasnt carried out at all then nobody paid! It was a well used trick - there were service stamps in most drawers so the book was stamped and salesman saved himself 10% of the service costs which were set by management. Intrim service was £120, salesman saves 10% of this. Might of been 17% but so long ago cant think now.
Another one was customers paying for diamond brite, that was seldom done. Firstly there were costs from the valet bay and secondly they used to hash it up, especially if it was a black car. Most of the clothes used were old. If it was a brand new black car then ud be shooting yourself in the foot asking those muppets to apply a polish on it. Customer would complain of swirl marks. I used to always the cars in the underground car park before handover. Dim lighting made them look good. Piece of advice - dont let any main dealer wash your car or polish it.

So, because you worked with mouth breathers, it must mean every dealer is incompetent. Another one was customers paying for diamond brite, that was seldom done. I used to work at a Ford Main Dealer. We used to buy lots of stock from Hertz, Rent a car etc. Some of the sales lads wouldnt bother servicing the car as any costs would come out their profit, so the book would be stamped up and no service done. Im sure there are loads of cars on the road like this.
Proper knobbyA very presentable looking Mercedes 190D, just about run in with 841k kilometers (just over 500k miles). An average of over 20k miles a year for 26 years is good going.

Might be better to spend £500 more on one that has 300k less on it...
