looks better in nardo, but i agree it is far too subtle for an RS

the RS range have always been subtle. RS4/RS6 have always had a q-car appeal with slightly menacing bulges in the arches etc.

this is a true q-car, which, imo, is a true Audi RS - i think people are getting confused because ford have featured a lot recently due to the release of their new 'as subtle as bathing with an electric fan' RS model.

the current RS4 and especially the RS6 are far more distinctive thou (you can scare people of the road with the RS6 as you fly up behind them lol), the old RS3 is also far more RS'y

if you spec'd this in an S3 colour nobody would be able to tell them apart, well except the RS would be missing 14 exhausts from the back tongue out

lol @ the exhausts. if you need any extra just contact me, i have the golf r tongue out

isn't the point of the RS that people who don't really know cars can't spot one?

those in the know, well, um, know.

Average Audi RS driver doesn't want to shout it from the rooftops. if you do you usually by an M3 in bright blue or baby sick yellow instead?

I think the 4/6 are spot on (especially the 6) in the balance of RS looks, this is just lazy / not spending any money on ext mods

I think that says more about the "S-Line" stuff than it does about the RS.

yep

I went to the audi UK website and configured one, that was the image that it produced. not sure where you got your press photo from but thats not how the current model looks as standard.

its a naff pic on their website

the pic is exactly how the one they lent me looked, except it was dark blue, the blades in the bumper can be spec'd silver or black (and can be on the new RS3 as well)

it is of course subjective and personal taste, but most peeps on the RS3 sites think the new car is too subtle

calling all the PH staff - please please PLEASE can you do a feature on current vs old pricing and modern day equivalents, £ per bhp or anything that will finally silence this crowd of people that seem to be living in the mid 90's. Chips were 30p when i was at school. they are now £2. i have got my brain around that, why can't people do the same with car prices!

it is really tiresome.
Agree. Plus the chips were just the same back then. In 1979 a Mk1 Golf GTI costs today's equivalent of £26k. You could get a similarly performing and size new car with more standard equipment for almost half that figure now and save a load on fuel costs too.

Audi RS6 is the best Audi you can buy by a long shot. Nardo Grey below looks menacing...

720hp with just a tune, 210mph and 60 in under 3secs. Doing all that with the missus beside you, the 3 kids in the back and the golf clubs and the dog in the boot

that is beautiful but i couldn't have one. i would spend more time worrying about someone keying the side or throwing a brick through the window. says more about the area i live in than my car choice i guess.

Audi are doing some good deals on these, I have a quote for 13.5% off (£81k down to £70k)Residual after 3yrs = £46.5k. Makes the finance on the car attractive as Audi also offer low rate 4.8%.

Very close to placing an order, just deciding on colour combo.

The international engine of the year award's overall winner was Ford's 1 litre ecoboost engine, the RS3 engine only won in its category and came LAST overall...

Anyway, I think the engine is epic just becuase of the noise it makes but the car itself looks rubbish. I have a dislike of Audi's lesser models (s-lines and particularly the black editions) but I usually love the RS models but this new RS3 looks like every other Audi.

Living in Aberdeen you get pretty sick of the Audi s-line/black edition styling very quickly, huge flared arches and some sort of wild side to the RS3 would have made it more desirable!
Yeah you are right Neil Aberdeen certainly is awash with Audis especially s-lines, and I was praying that this was going to come out with metal RS4 esque boxy arches but this has been a disappointment , but one thing is for sure all of these s-lines are diluted by some serious metal up here, inc the guy I seen out driving a black ultima GTR in the pissing rain ............... He must have balls the size of space hoppers .

I never used to be a Audi man but you just seem to get pulled in and now we find ourselves relating everything against our past S4 and SQ5 , sad I know .

Dave my advice is go and drive one, you will quickly make up your mind wink .

We had one for the afternoon from Aberdeen Audi , and cruising on the A96 with cyl deactivation it was doing 26mpg in mega comfort and silence, but on the journey from Banchory to fettercairn road the sheer grunt and traction on that almost alpine pass was mental and a few times I had to calm myself down as its a big car moving very quickly .

Plus the cracks from the exhaust on full throttle up shifts make you feel like a ten year old, you just want to keep doing it
