Aggression on the Roads...

Being an aggressive ahole is seen as acceptable in this country now, from years of football screaming and X factor/big brother and fly on the wall "reality TV", kids get it from an early age and take into adulthood, I've even seen a few incidents of pavement rage.
Have to agree. Customer service is also dying. Plus with the internet good written and spoken English.

... A gun was fired inside a police car during a Christmas Day disturbance in Bradford city centre, it has emerged. West Yorkshire Police said the firearm - which a member of the public claimed was a shotgun - was "discharged into a marked police vehicle" on Sackville Street while officers were speaking to the victim of an assault..."
I don't think this person wanted to roll around the floor doing submission hugs,
and one of the best reasons not to get out to argybargy over something.
There are lots of people out there who really don't think there will be consequences to their actions, and to whom "face" is everything. Regardless of whether they are in the right or wrong.
Whatever happened, you will be in the wrong for not showing them respect.
Therefore you, Sir, are a fhaaaacking caaaaant

I don't see a point there apart from a giant straw man........ A gun was fired inside a police car during a Christmas Day disturbance in Bradford city centre, it has emerged. I've already said don't get yourself into bother. But sometimes you have no choice.
I am struggling to follow that so much I'm now wondering if you called me a .
Certainly not calling you anything...the last sentence is the erroneous driver's attitude.
If someone is willing to pull a gun on a cop car for a pub brawl then what would they do to a
non-uniformed member of the public?
With the level of drug dealing and associated crime round some areas, there are vehicles that are tooled up - possible a gun, most likely a baseball bat or crowbar. Even if unarmed it quickly becomes a baying crowd and the odds change against you.
What we see regularly are normally mild-mannered people who lose complete control.
The consequences for them could be fines, even imprisonment. Maybe lose their job, house, family.
Yet they forget all that in order to have a pop at someone.
Now think about the attitude of someone who doesn't have much to lose and doesn't care either.

I don't go drinking on weekends either as that's where it mostly kicks off. A local boxing champion got bottled over Christmas and ultimately the criminal will get his .... but I'd rather avoid it.
But mostly my examples are pukes in cars thinking they are thugs when they aren't. But I've dealt with thugs too.

That's what I'm talking about. I have a friend who is both very gay and very left wing. He is always offended - I called the DHSS scum who wrecked my rented out house white trash and he was offended, and flounced off when I outmanoeuvred him in an argument. He found my scouse accent impression offensive until I told him I was born on Merseyside and thus had every right to lampoon this superb accent. Then it was 'unfunny'. He's a lovely bloke and very intelligent but by Christ he needs to grow a thicker skin.During some ridiculous road rage incident recently I was called a c**t.
"I've been called worse".

Imagine how the driver in the OP might react to a perceived slight by a cyclist...
I spend a lot of time behind the wheel - 30k miles a year and sometimes more - and seem to have mostly got the hang of the Zen approach: today you had a in your life; never mind - they have a in their life every day. Move on and NEVER engage with another road user except to make space for them, express thanks or apologise.
'Twas not always so and I used to get very antsy about other peoples' driving, but I have learned to care and not to care, as Eliot might have said.
Me too ironingman, its learnt from experience. leave a gap and let people get on with it. There is always someone who wants to go faster than you.I spend a lot of time behind the wheel - 30k miles a year and sometimes more - and seem to have mostly got the hang of the Zen approach: today you had a in your life; never mind - they have a in their life every day. Agreed but there are situations where you cannot avoid idiots. Antony Moxey said:
I reckon 99% of the population do quite easily 99% of the time. I've managed it without any effort and so has everyone I know. It isn't difficult.
What a baseless logic.... "I reckon" is irrelevant. Some sweeping statement on 99% of the population is laughable based on a sample group of "everyone I know."But what I will agree with is it is VERY easy to avoid. Just today driving through the standstill traffic by Bristol m4 some idiot under cutting and swinging in and out of lanes so dangerous made me think some poor person will be on the end of an accident some day that idiot causes. But I just back off and leave him to it.
Im simply stating sometimes or someday for some people you are in a situation where you cannot avoid confrontation. Even trying to avoid it by acting meek or apologising just encourages said idiot.

How is that baseless logic.... Im saying "road rage" incidents happen ALL the time. Isnt the title of this thread about aggression on the road.... and various people have posted about "incidents."When have I been unlucky?
So you have not had anyone threaten you with violence. Well done. You win? You are better than anyone else who faced that situation?

I think it's mostly for two reasons:
1) Most of what you're saying is hilarious
2) You don't realise why it's hilarious
Being mocked by some moron on a PH forum does not exactly make me lose sleep..... 1) Most of what you're saying is hilarious
2) You don't realise why it's hilarious
You no doubt find it hilarious due to ignorance.
