Haha thank you! Yes she looked stunning (wife) i think you’re right about me punching haha. I know you know the shaftesbury area so you’ll know where I mean when I say this was Hindon church
Lovely spot. Congratulations once again. Un-gallant of me to mention it, but the car really does look fantastic.
Congrats TriumphMan - both on the big day plus owning an E34 in the best colour

Have noticed Calypso-esque shades on much newer cars - the outlaws have bought a 20 plate Nissan Somethingorother in a very similar shade.

2002 Mercedes so you'd want a really good look underneath it a real shame nice looking cars
That 210 is getting a hard time. It’s 2k, looks decent to me. I’ve owned mine now for 6 years it’s clean underneath. Few bits need doing body wise but it’s a 22 year old car. I spent more on my w124 bodywork. They’re not all a disaster.

I have a good vibe about it. Also dealer offers video viewing so you could maybe ask them to show you the underside and jacking points to give you a better idea. If they refuse then you can assume it's rotten. If they say it's PEX to clear what do you expect then assume the same.

If not this one then one like it would be an interesting alternative to the mundane.

Thank you again, not un-gallant at all - indeed apart from people saying how lovely my wife looked, in their next breath they commented on how nice the car looked! smile

Thank you! Yes like you I've noticed a surge in cars in that colour - I'd love to claim it's my influence, after all 12 years ago when I was driving around in a brown Triumph 2000 I noticed an increase in brown cars. It's my fault you know wink

Above thread but looks a decent old bruiser for the price. E55 150k and clean MOT, frill free arches, factory nav and ortho seats...

Seller sounds like a decent chap but check this line out "In January it had a matching set of OE spec Continental contisport tyres fitted...". This car has good provenance.

That's the estate version of the saloon I fell in love with at the British motor show all those year ago.

I've just dropped off my W124 to a specialist to be looked at. Lots of lovely metal around.

^^ That E55 does look appealing. It’s had a decent amount spent on it but I can’t help thinking from the description that there’s still a fair bit of corrosion to be concerned with versus its £8.5k asking - seems very strong money actually when (pre-COVID) there was often the W211versions available close to this price.

Lovely E34!

If I may divert onto wheels for BMWs for a moment, I'm having a set of alloys refurbed and fitting them to my E46, what should I do with the current set? They're a bit scruffy, but 10-footers... Should I have them refurbed and offer with or without tyres, or just sell on as-is?
Unless they're a design people will want you may as well go as is
People can be fussy with wheel refurbs and could presume newly refurbished wheels have had a quick job done to look superficially good.

Are they the same wheel your having fitted? Some places offer part-ex if so?
Thanks gents - the ones I'm having done first and put on the car are the Compact-specific Style 97s, the ones currently on it are a set of 16" equal-width style 32s, to me desirable, but could be a hard sell I suppose.

Attractive E38 in budget:

That doesn't seem too badly priced in the current market, but I'm still stuck in yester-year where this wouldn't have been had for half of that. I do like E38s (I used to have one) but I much prefer the later post-facelift cars. Still, that seems to have cleaned up rather well on the outside. That could be a good buy I reckon, but just be aware of the usual timing chain guide issues which plague this V8 (I think, or is it the later M62 cars only?) and of course the fuel tank, which isn't THAT big of a job to be honest in the grand scheme of things.

That does seem like all the money given the seller lists quite a lot of corrosion and 'might have missed' some. Would find the extra / haggle hard and be in a 211 for that money.

You don't want to use winter tyres I take it? I can understand avoiding the bad weather with cars of this age.

Nah, I don't do enough miles to worry about specific winter/summer sets in my car, and I can always borrow Mrs K's Subaru which wears Crossclimates. Pretty much unstoppable in that configuration.

Thank you all for the comments about the E430. In the morning light it doesn't look quite so good. I think maybe I'll slink back into lurking and dreaming for now.
