Am I missing something with this one? Why really good?
I ask myself that about most of the ones posted on here. Some of the lists people posts are almost train spotter level and just dateless plates rather than anything special / meaningful.
Just the fact that it is a dateless plate and then a pre 1963 original issue as opposed to a post 1989 DVLA auction plate. This one was issued in March 1961 by Lancaster Council. Again it comes down to what appeals to people. Anything original issue would excite me and the shorter and older the better.
I will admit to being guilty of "plate spotting". Going out for a drive or a walk only means plate spotting to me, to the angst of the better half.

Fair enough - thank for the explanation.
How do you identify the place of original issue ? I feel compelled to look mine up now smile

Back then that was the price of a 1 year old Mondeo.

Still a lot of money back then but a wise investment.

Can anyone explain this? Just tried it - 600 comes up on the MOT checker as a Mercedes 600.
I presume for some reason that's a discrepancy on the MOT checker website. My original thought was that Guernsey plates (i.e. just a number) might be on the MOT website, but I don't think MOTs are required there (yet), let alone back in 2009...

Mr Romeo & I are plate geeks, and we have a couple of books that list the date and place of issue of all pre suffix plates (and some later ones). Feel free to DM me and I'll tell you what I can.

Except - don't DM me yet, I realised my registered email is dead, and I can't work out how to change it - I just emailed PH support. If you are happy to put the plate one here I can respond, otherwise I'll update this post once my account is sorted.
