Question- now that surcharges for credit card payments are banned from today, will you be accepting full payment on a credit card where traditionally people have paid on debit card for deposits or settling the bill?
We have always taken up to £1000 with no charge and charged 2% over and above that figure, I guess now, we will just refuse to take credit cards; we haven't had any communication about it though.I know it was coming into force soon, I didn't realise it was today though.
Very short sighted legislation as I should imagine, many businesses who take credit cards as a form of payment regularly with a charge, will increase their charges across the board.
Funny though as I did road tax for a customer today and the DVLA website was still showing a £2.50 credit card surcharge.

Yet a similar number of people get annoyed by being "jumped on" by every member of staff within 15 ft when they just want to be left alone and have a quiet browse.
A bloke on his own is often the least likely to be made contact with as they are very rarely buyers there and then. If they require assistance, they're also usually the first to make active contact.
Different brands and dealer groups have different policies on this, but generally there should be at least one attempt to make contact made within three minutes, if the customer hasn't initiated it within two.

You've pretty much just described me A bloke on his own is often the least likely to be made contact with as they are very rarely buyers there and then. If they require assistance, they're also usually the first to make active contact.

I certainly don't want jumping on but I was genuinely surprised not to get so much as a "hello" from anyone in three separate dealerships.
Like I said, I've had some great experiences too so it was nothing more than an observation of what happened on that day in those specific locations.

we are not allowed to pass on card charges doesn't mean we will accept people paying the balance on cards. We always take £100 deposit on a card, and ask for balance payment by transfer, never had an issue so this hopefully wont affect us

Low mileage, cheap to run, cheap to tax, loads of room inside and nice spec.
Edit: Many cheaper ones on autotrader also.

Cheers for the reply, yeah I guess it makes sense that you simply stop accepting credit cards. Bought a car recently and it was a similar deal, £3k on credit card, rest was transfer or debit. Only reason I put an amount on the credit card was for the cash back!I know it was coming into force soon, I didn't realise it was today though.

Here’s the article I read on it if interested http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-42639408

To be honest I hadn't thought about Renault, had a couple of friends who had nothing but problems with theirs, is there any timing belt issues with them, don't tend to buy private and stick to garage purchases
6 year cambelt interval with the 1.5 dci engine, the 2.0 is chain driven.Older Renaults have problems, from the Laguna 3 onwards reliability is much much improved.

Credit card for £1,000 deposit, everything else debit card or bank transfer. We can take credit cards for balances at no additional fee. Provided there's enough retained margin in the deal to cover it, so that's a discount you won't be getting - however you choose to pay, as we're not allowed to discriminate...

I'm looking for a cheap estate at the minute or even soft roader, but although it seems like a very dull option i've started to search for Toyota Avensis's4941cc said:
