What no-one else but me knows at this moment is that the 1973 Mercedes SLC, which is part of the movement plan, is currently a 1.5T non-starting static ornament in my garage.
Somewhat unusually for me, I have proved rather less inept than usual and have solved this problem. Fingers crossed that the rest of it all goes according to plan. Just saying.....
Elsewhere on here, I've shared my turbo failing Alfa Giulietta woes, whilst I was commuting 20k miles a year I yearned for a barge.
Now commuting by car is zero miles that feeling hasn't gone as I travel to visit family with a 60mile round trip of mostly motorways and enjoyed a jaunt up to Norfolk the other weekend.
With the OH having a Aygo I tempted to sell my poorly Giulietta and finally get something to waft in. I'm leaning towards a Volvo S80 D5 from 2006, at about £3.5-£4.5k.
Been doing a bit of research but thought I'd tap on the knowledge here. Good choice as my first barge coming from a 2012 Alfa Giulietta (and Alfa Gtv v6) and at that price is this the right thread, limits £5k right?

So it was all a dream, then?
Potentially, or it could be my 7/10 day timeframe was unacceptable against a next day from eBay? (I think I’m now remembering the dream - was it a car incapacitated on a garage ramp and time being of the essence, hence the Hobson’s choice?) Macron said:
We do, and we thank you for taking the sticker off the side soon that few people seem to have commented on. I mean if a previous owner was incapable of remembering their car was a Porsche from all sides, I think we'd all be better off without them driving at all.
Thank you for the support, I shall get out there with a kettle first thing tomorrow. Wife said it looks fine and we should keep it - I have always had my doubts, but now I am certain about what to keep .V6todayTurboManana said:

The only thing to watch for on any D5 is the timing belt changes, requiring ALL pulleys and tensioners to be replaced at the same time - have heard horror stories of the timing belt being replaced, then a short while later, the alternator belt tensioner letting go, spitting the belt out into the timing belt and pop goes the engine....Now commuting by car is zero miles that feeling hasn't gone as I travel to visit family with a 60mile round trip of mostly motorways and enjoyed a jaunt up to Norfolk the other weekend.

Needs a headlight polish, but otherwise pretty reasonable. No gravel or privet though.

Looks good, and proves the point about them looking better in darker hues. 191,000 miles is good going, especially in a small convertible.www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164980649380

An S211 E500 with 180k miles and located in East Sussex.
I'm not quite sure what to make of it, or the seller, tbh. Silver with black alloys and a black interior is an unappealing aesthetic combo for me whilst the 'I'm an enthusiast' plus 'the errors don't bother me' plus the 'don't really need to sell' narrative is a little unconvincing, certainly with the lurid descriptions of the car as 'The Beast'. It has had the rear mufflers removed, which is interpreted as a growl but from personal experience is a deeply unappealing drone within the cabin at motorway cruising speeds, coupled with a loss in power.
EDIT: I wonder whether the seller will pop up as per the ML63 a few months ago and give mescorn the benefit of his feedback.

hello,
I'm interested in a Lexus GS300 - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202106163...
Would something like the above link be a good purchase? I'd be happy to accept other examples if anyone sees any?
Thank you!
