Yup, Mum had a green clubman, think the record was 9 kids in it coming out of a multi-storey car park after seeing 'Driver" at the pics.......yes I'm that old...

Subframe didn't last long after that though...

In more positive news, I am nearly Audi free (A1) and can't wait to be rid of the lot of them....rant over.

Sticky.

That's no fair! BUT! Audi terrible for parts for these I understand which is unforgivable for icons such as that, whereas Porsche and BMW still usually very good if not exactly cheap. TBH, in my rather grumpy view that demonstrates the attitude of the company as a whole (and their dealers...)

Oh no, I'm off again.....

Crumbs, forgot about the sliding windows. Remember Dad constantly re-Aralditing the little chrome catches back on and us breaking them off again about 5 mins later!

Some midweek musings

Paid a visit to the 'new' Caterham showroom at Gatwick this week, very impressive setup it must be said although I do miss the olde worlde showroom in the village of Caterham from the good ol' days. Many a happy memory of the old place however my attention was grabbed by the jugular with what was, in my opinion, one of the nicest looking/specced 7s I have seen (picture doesn't do it justice)......

Alfa Compezione Red 620 lick

Very nice, I will pop in for a look - I am hiring a Caterham from there for a couple of days next week. driving

In a similar vein, this one looks unbelievably good in the flesh. Apparently it's a Lamborghini shade.

A friend of mine has one waiting to be restored, I'm pretty sure it's badged as an Austin Seven

I don't like the latest Astons. I think the DB9 and Vantage of the same vintage are in the top echelon of the best looking cars of all time.

Is a manual DB9 at £47k looking cheap and a future bonanza (if not quite like its ancestors)?

Fair point. Finding some parts for my B5 are now NLA, and I know an RS2 owner who’s having a mare trying to source bits. I never remember it being as bad for older BMWs

V12 Vantages nearing in on £60k are the prize pick if you ask me: https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Styling wise, 1st gen DB9 is peak Aston for me. Perfect proportions.

I think it was about 6mths back when Joel alerted me to a Bamford Rose enhanced DB9 Manuel for £39k. Stunning value, but it took ages to sell...

Agreed, perfect.

As a lottery winner I reckon I'd be heading towards the V12 Vantage.

If it comes to mandatory speed limiters etc, i’ll be getting my 2 wheel licence.

Fortunately, we still have older and modern classics that we can all enjoy, covet and drive without interfering st like this effecting them.

I still think that fully limited cars are unlikely to be the mainstream, but Im coming to the realisation that in the future there will be effectively rolling road blocks at 70mph on motorways.

We already have this as more cars with black boxes and ignorant selfish drivers sit in lane 3 at 72 mph.

Love those colours, I think they still have a red 270S there still built by my very own hand!

New clutch for the 930 has made such a difference, don’t need to go all Vinny Jones on the clutch pedal to change gear now.

Popped down to Colchester Porsche in the week, lovely selection of GTs down there, light blue 911 T looked lovely but none of the new models on show which was a bit strange.

The roads this morning are awash with everyone blowing the cobwebs out of their various toys.
