That interior on the Phaeton needs a ruddy good clean!
E65 going in for MOT this coming week..... I'm being charged £20 for the fee..... I wonder what the overall bill will be! Last year was just the £20

What a relief when you get the call that you can collect it!

Not only emphatically not-a-new-car in every way, but that colour should make every £449-a-month 6+35 drear-o-matic 4-pot-4-exhaust oily Aggresso Oakley-Belmer shrink into their IKEA sofabed every time you arrive home.
Drive slowly. Rub it in.
Excellent! Drive slowly. Rub it in.
And yes, that 126 is rather lovely

This is the universal truth that joins us all What a relief when you get the call that you can collect it!
All hail the call from the MOT garage! The nervous wait at work, waiting for your mobile to ring. You've attended all the little jobs, cleaned it within an inch of its life (because that makes a difference!) so it's gotta fly through, right?
...or is there something I've missed? Is there a bush somewhere with too much play? Some corrosion on a brake pipe hiding somewhere you haven't seen?
Your heart skips a beat when the phone finally rings, a moment of panic and a glance at the wallet before you answer the call. Then follows a huge sigh of relief, a satisfying fist pump and slow nod, accompanied by a grin and the knowledge that for now, at least, your credit card is safe.
Barging. Love it.
OK it might have done a few miles but it's got FMBSH. And just look at the interior

Same. When mine passed in October I replied "Really?". I was convinced it would fail.
Why, what were you convinced it would fail on? Presumably not a trivial fail point- e.g. worn wiper blades, blown bulb, malfunctioning horn and so on, or you would have fixed them - so did you think there was something seriously wrong with structural corrosion, suspension, brakes etc? I already have one car with a red (well, burgundy) velour interior, and that's probably enough, but it does make the point that velour on these cars was a very high quality hard-wearing option, arguably better than leather. The velour on my 97,000 mile Porsche has no wear visible, as this also doesn't at nearly twice that mileage. Leather bolsters are usually shagged by that stage.

What's that thing under the rear valance? Looks like a massive plate bolted on where a tow bar used to be. Edited by Lowtimer on Monday 2nd March 09:03

I think it's exactly that. New bumper needed. Why was a SEC being used as a tow car?! SEL for that surely. Edited by Lowtimer on Monday 2nd March 09:03

I'm a bit behind on keeping up with the thread, some cracking finds lately though. The 190 lokos very smart for £2.5k, surely a safe home for someones cash. Both of these BMW's look very nice as well;

Wow, if that's half as good as it looks it's a bargain. If those wheels are genuine (and especially if they've got the larger rears) then they're worth a fair chunk on their own.rat840771 said:

This car is local to me, and a stunner, 1 lady owner. The local garage is selling and they are a bunch of rip off merchants so i hate to think what cut they will be taking.
I am tempted, but not really in the market for a 2 door. But for someone would be a really good buy!

That SEC interior is wantable in the extreme. I could even use that hideous flap under the valance as the cover for an LPG filler!
So am I the only one who thinks it's hideous? Much prefer the mushroom interior with black dash top, or red leather. Edited by SuperHangOn on Monday 2nd March 13:22
