Whats the worst the "metallic" noise can be? So temped to have a punt on it at 300 quid!
That leather and steering wheel.... niiice. I'd be inclined to have it till it went pop then use the interior in a shed or garage!Whats the worst the "metallic" noise can be? So temped to have a punt on it at 300 quid!
Unless it's totally, totally borked, this is a total bargain.

Edit to add - it even appears to have a very rare factory option, intact rear bumper...

I'll stick with the V6 Alfa.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...
That thing is fk ugly. At least when the Alfa dies it will make a pretty drive ornament!

Edit- is that even an MOT issue? wouldn't bother me for the money, assuming the noise was mechanically fixable I couldn't give a toss about what a flaky Alfa's lights are saying!

Whilst admittedly plug ugly, the Mondy will still be going when the earthworms have long since reclaimed its Italian cousin. That Ford V6 is a wonderful engine.DervVW said:
Very, but it does make you wonder why its been traded in, seems a bargin to run and buy, what ticking time bomb is waiting?
You'd want to have a good look over and a decent test drive on that. The MOT & TAX are both pretty short plus high mileage with no mention of any service history but what worries me most is their total lack of Ebay history.theironduke said:
Does the ford lump sound as good as the Alfa? especially if you were to stick a couple of hundred quids worth of Ragazzoni (sp) on the back?
They sound pretty good, and they are pretty indestructible. I sold my ST24 to a mate, who then sold it to another mate, and they ragged the poor thing like hell - it was both of their first cars. Speedo stopped working at 130k, must have done at least another 15k after that being thrashed from cold etc on a regular basis, and it still ran perfectly.
The Alfa looks nice, but for reliability I would take the old Mondy every time!

I'd sooner have the pretty but fragile Alfa (though the V6's as a rule are good lumps, better than Twinnies) over the reliable but pig ugly Ford. But each to his own!
Those seats seal it for me. If it breaks catastrophically get the engine made into a coffee table and the seats into armchairs for the man cave!theironduke said:

I'm the complete opposite.Mondeo over Alfa everyday. The Alfa will be when something goes wrong, possibly catastrophic definitely wallet battering. Everytime you turned the key in the ignition first thing in the morning you'd wince. In the Mundaneo you have hope when you turned that key on a freezing cold, wet morning.
eta and that ford v6 is a lovely engine.

Granted this Alfa comes pre-borked....but even so...
Took my free 1.6 Astra (long story) for a MOT today.... failed because the exhaust is buggered and a long list of advisories.
Not sure whether to just scrap it and recoup what I've spent on MOT/insurance so far or to fix it up and continue my original plan to sell it at BB money and make a few hundred quid

If we could find two people stupid enough, this would make for a great Top Gear style challenge - whose would be the better experience?Mondeo over Alfa everyday.
