There is a bunch of us that have been saying that about various old Mercs for a while now...!

My research has been very cursory but I can't see any reason for that not to have sold. It's cheap, looks in decent condition from the pictures, and appears to have a decent history file. I like the brown velour too.

What's not to like?

What a fine set of wheels

I like that. A lot.

What colour is it? My monitor makes it look brown-ish, which I think looks rather fetching, although the ad is titled grey.

My heart lies with classics really, and I'm tempted by these despite not being that keen on white cars.

This looks a very good deal to me. Long ownership and a pretty little thing at 6 grand.

I like these old Fiats too, but this one is more expensive and a little tattier.

I can't currently post pictures but both are worth a look.

This e28 520 manual is so charming. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1985-BMW-520i-MANUAL-E2...

Nice car. Pity the seller favours caps lock and primary colours though.

Fantastic cool

What are they like for space inside for the taller driver?
Thanks chaps.

Ref taller drivers. It was one of my concerns actually as this was bought unseen. I've only driven it a very short journey to work this morning (in order to be able to see it in daylight) but at 6' (1m-85) tall I fit pretty comfortably. Time will tell once I use it more, but I don't anticipate it being a problem, and think anyone even a little taller than me would be fine. Anyone with 2m would struggle I expect!

I was thinking similar. Apart from boring silver, there's lots to like there.

I'm very fond of these Daimlers - nearly bought one at a Historics auction late last year, regret not buying it really.

Then I'd have to get a photo filling up using both sides of the fuel pump at the same time.
I think the Series XJ cars are an absolute bargain. One of the most beautiful cars of it's type ever made, fine handling, a reasonable turn of speed even by modern standards, a sophisticated chassis setup, powered by one of the absolute premier engines of the time for buttons in classic terms.

I think their ubiquity has lead us to take them for granted but they offered something very exotic and special for a modest price when they were new, and they still do now. Every petrol head should experience a V12 at some point if they can, and while others have now far surpassed the Jaguar V12 in power and performance (although this old beast put out 330bhp in the mid 90s with modern engine controls, matching BMWs new M73) none of the other V12s I've used have quite matched it for refinement. I suspect the Toyota V12 in the Century might though.
They really are lovely cars and so affordable to buy for what they are. Supremely comfortable and lovely to look at.
I agree with all this, and that looks lovely, but whoever stuck that leaper on it deserves a punch to the throat.
