I thinks Drive Tribe is very good but it is essentially just social media for car nerds.

So it's nice to see articles, photos, videos etc. but it's not really a discussion board the likes of PH. I think they'll run side by side absolutely fine and doubt it will effect users joining PH.

The only thing I would say is how fresh that site looks compared to this forum but then we know this forum is old skool anyway haha.

So how are other people getting on with it? Have to say I'm a little bored of it already, in the same way I got fed up with the likes of Instagram after a while

Perhaps it's too soon for me to be dismissive, but it's just not appealing for a number of reasons:

- Comments seem to be getting closer and closer to the YouTube model, which isn't good
- Whoever is posting for the big three (JC,JM,RH) needs to up their game, as it really just seems to be an afterthought for them
- Not the easiest to navigate now with so many tribes
- Too many reposts of poor content (I'll admit my content isn't exactly top notch either though wink)
- Quite a number of bugs - alerts not working, freezing mobile site, etc.
- Lack of a dedicated forum

So as a result I suspect that it's probably just going to be PH for me going forwards

I'd already forgotten to look on there until this post got bumped up again, and when I did it was mainly to just see how many people were in my tribe!

I think I shall just follow links from Twitter rather than trying to find new content via drivetribe.

Even the main tribe for the in-house professional content has a poor wheat-to-chaff ratio.

What did he post up just out of interest?
A Bugatti Chiron piece and an ode to Eau Rouge
Thanks.

Yes they post up their exploits on there on twitter and currently it allows me to watch the video without logging into drivetribes and no advertising etc.

I can guess that will not last for too much longer when the advertising starts and kristallnacht appears for us subversives smile Henry Catchpole and Jethro Bovingdon did some excellent written long pieces, I guess that will not continue?

Shame.

Agreed.

There seems to be less depth to someone a car geek who wants all the facts, even if they read it on the bog. It's been getting flimsier every year. Evo has finally started giving out stats again for acceleration etc, for a geek that is important. Autocar always was a good read for an exciting car so you could see the gearing etc on the road test page. That sort of things seems to be going, which is a shame.

To counter very shallow things like drivetribes etc we need a weighty tome delivered to us, 400 pages long with loads and loads of writing by the best scribes and good photo's to boot. I'd pay £10 or £15 per month for that.

I guess I am a dying breed though.

This is also my approach, most of the good content seems to be posted to Twitter anyway.

That would be amazing, but I can't see it happening. 400 pages would be a lot to fill on a monthly basis. The latest Octane is pretty thick at 290, although there's far too much fluff and advertising within that. For £10-15 I'd want to see a much better ratio of editorial to advertising. And no bloody watches!

Think I'm gonna can it too. Even though I have 400+ people in my tribe (what a stupid term), nobody posts in it except myself. I thought it was going to be this all interactive, social media round cars thing. Not what I was expecting tbh

A quick look at global website traffic today suggests DriveTribe is currently getting -90% fewer visitors than PistonHeads.
PH has seemed a lot quieter than normal to me this week.
Drivetribe traffic has doubled in the past week.

I agree the smaller tribes like mine seem to have stalled. Even the ones with several hundred members don't get a lot of postings, new members and 'bumps'. Apart from the usual suspects, the algorhythm deciding what people see on their landing page so far seems to reward Instagram-like piccie posting more than feature articles etc., which is a bit of a shame.

So far, for Glym 9 of all social media we use, Facebook creates the most exposure and interaction by far...

There are currently 316 members of mine, there are 21 posts, of which 3 are by me.
So, 18 posts by 315 people in a couple of weeks isn't exactly lively is it laugh

The structure of the site seems to encourage the posting of pictures and videos rather than forum-like discussions and questions.

I'd imagine that tribes not linked to existing content creators (photographers/bloggers/youtubers/etc) will quickly wither on the vine.

Just over 400 on mine. 3rd or 4th biggest MX5 group and getting some activity. I think the key will be to stick wth it and see how it goes.

I'm enjoying it though and found some really good stuff written by both pros and just randoms. Perhaps we should start a "Good stuff I found on DriveTribe" thread like we have for Netflix and Amazon Prime.

I get the feeling a lot of wonga was thrown at the royalty on this site, then a smaller amount of wonga was thrown at the lords and nobles and then the serfs prop it up. It's been amazing how many lords and nobles have left previous employment in long running car media to move over.

Very interesting how it will all pan out.

While they have now allowed email sign in they still require a photograph. I suppose I could post a pic of my dogsmile I get the sense that they really want to get you as close to FB as possible. Tried signing up with no pic and it would not let me

I can't sign up at all, just hangs with 'signing in'
