Dickc is just being rude. At 77 i still work full time as many others do and I often put in 18 hour days when travelling the world on export business. Plus point is when I am in USA i get to drive fully loaded Camaro SS

Apologies if you thought I was being rude, Rob. As one of the old timers I was trying to be hilarious. It was to counter the depressing view some of the young lads on here have of getting old. There was a story a couple of years ago of staff at an old folks home discovering an orgy of octogenarians - some even older. Most commentators were appalled. I was glad to hear of the human spirit thriving.

On the other hand I do tell my sons that if they would like to do something, to try and do it when they're young simply because some things get more difficult with age. An elderly couple I met with a Caterham said they'd give up the car when they couldn't get in and out. Good on 'em.

Hi DickyC

No probs. One laugh I do get is when I visit suppliers or customers and the first thing I hear is ""what is an old fart doing in a RS""

Reply I can afford it and I can drive it. As I said in first post Mr Plod will vouch for that. 28 day ban was offset by me flying off to USA
for 14 days where I could still use my licence . Didn't smirk when sentence handed down

Rob

As a 56 year old geezer, I still take joy in hammering my 91 CRX vtec to 8000. Cant take it out without doing that on every journey. Still just as fun.

Probably should wear a baseball cap back to front as well

I'm 40 soon. Drive a ropey old Focus 1.6. It loves the revs. So do I.

Am I doing this right?

51 years young here, have an E39 M5 and MGTF 130 as my current daily drives. Weather dependent, the TF is not great in the current torrential showers!
Also had an E39 530i sport (Spanish), but it's reached an MOT too far this year it would seem.
M5 as my sensible daily.. 😁

I’m 68 and recently reluctantly had to sell my Elise S2 due to struggling to get out. I’ve had arthritis for many years. Now got a Boxster, it’s a good car overall but can’t match the driving pleasure of the Elise.
My wife’s near retirement age and has a year old Focus ST. She’s a career in the community and lots of her clients love the Focus. We get some interesting looks when we take the grandkids out and all pile out at the shops.

The sense of competition never leaves, of course. Now all us old fellas are vying to be the oldest with the scariest car.

If I'm alive, I will do. Will probably be in some sort of old skool electric thing by then. Will be bragging that it's from an era when cars were still driven by people. hehe

I'll be with my dad today in his X5 M50d. Similar thing and that shifts too.

He is 69.
