I understood what you said completely. But if you're going to give buses a wide berth there, you have to be giving _everyone_ a wide berth everywhere, because you do not know if the driver is new to the area, a crazed lunatic, or just behaves, like this guy, as if the rules of the road don't apply to him.

Or, alternatively, we could actually call out st driving when it happens in a safe manner (I think Gaz did that, you seem to disagree), in the hope that those drivers start obeying the highway code, start treating other road users with respect, and we can all get along a bit better and not have to start 10 pages of discussion when someone behaves pretty reasonably, and gets a ton of st, while the person who behaves unreasonably gets a free pass (essentially).

To answer your question he doesn't know the bus isn't turning left, but he also doesn't know it is. I lived in London for just over 12 months and have seen that manoeuvre pulled umpteen times there as the previous lights mark the lane as straight on and yet within 100yards that lane filters left on to Drummond Gate. Buses especially pull across there all the time and (whether it is right or wrong that they do) cyclegaz knows this being a veteran of cycling on London's roads (look at his YT channel). Put simply he wanted to make a point as per so many of his videos and this time he got a conviction and I'm sure he went to bed a happy chap that night, but facts are facts.... he's a ****!
