Alternatively, it's a good candidate for the Festival Of The Unexceptional (although that is damning with faint praise!)
It's a very early Mk5 on an H plate... But I think the Strada on the previous page would be a 'cooler' Festival of the Unexceptional ride, and would possibly win!

A miserable car in a jolly colour,

When you look closely you can see how rough the bodywork is. Probably owned by the same guy for over 20 years and used as the do everything car. Rather have one of those over one that's all filler, had a respray and been classed as restored. Almost be a shame to see someone restore it instead of keeping it original, I actually quite like it.

My 1st car was an M reg 1.3 Ford Escort - M923 WCW laugh

Couldn't pull skin off'th rice puddin'; had to lean forward when going up hills (which I did a lot working in Burnley and commuting from Preston, daily) biggrin

But whenever it gained a new 'dent'; it was easier to go to the breakers yards in Altham and find the same car, same colour and swap the panel over there & then haha...

Like many of us here, I can see the appeal in lots of things that would save me from otherwise having to walk or take public transport. But that ... well, I'm unable to articulate how little I want it.

It's to remind you how poor you are that you didnt buy a higher spec car.

hehe That must be the lowest-spec gauge cluster I've ever seen, not even a clock instead of a rev counter.

Agreed. Nothing to break, rattle, go wrong. Put the seat where you want it, and just drive.

I like that the Escort has a stylish drawing with warning light wheels to fill the space where the bourgeoisie would have a rev counter.

That's definitely some kind of old boy bodge. Perhaps the heater matrix failed so instead it just sends a dribble of coolant in to warm up your legs.
