Unlawful spacing = crappy, perchance?
Genuinely interested, how should it be spaced?

Still don't think it should be in with the st in this thread though, got to be at least a five figure plate.
Illegal is illegal making the value irrelevant.

Spacing a plate illegally demonstrates the Platee thinks him/herself above the law which is a Chav attitude no matter how much the plate or the car its displayed on is worth. In fact any attempt at excusing that particular number plate from inclusion in the Crappy Plates thread simply because it's worth a substantial sum is rather Chav too...

Spaced correctly then it's worthy of the Real Good thread. Spaced incorrectly then it rightly deserves being in here.

Are you sure that the original two digit registrations actually require the extra space compared with the later numbers where the two letters acquired a geographical meaning?
Answer is "Yes" according to the DVLA. I fail to see why the owner thinks it looks better with illegal spacing.

Happy to stand corrected if so - that's for somebody with a more detailed knowledge than me. That looks illegal to me though if the spacing requirements do apply to it.

See my edit above. Technically illegal but I don't think a man on a galloping horse would spot the difference.

I'm reluctant to do that. To listen to it I'd have to read it all out loud and I'm on a train.

No. The car was first registered 1986, the 'age' of the plate is 1980/1981.

It worries me that PH'rs can't even date an "Icon" or even work out the period covered by a reg plate - I though this was a car enthusiast forum - If you don't know then 2 mins on google will resolve any gaps in knowledge.
