I requested my fathers registration late last year, and within a few weeks it sprung up in the current catalogue. Would be interesting to know if someone else requested 59 PLD some time ago.

as I understand it - it hits a catalogue when there has been at least 2 requests - because there is then a hope that several will bid against each other and the price will go up - one request = low result...
wouldn't surprise me if some people had friends also request their plate to trigger its inclusion (though presumably with a bit of subtlety with regards to geographic location & timing...)

How do you go about requesting notification when a plate goes up for sale/auction with the DVLA? Didn't see anywhere on their site unless I missed it, or do you have to ring/email?
