In the car park at the Oulton Hall DVLA auction this morning. Plate must be worth considerably more than the car it's on.

That Saxo VTR is local to me.
Great plate and the car is in great nick too.
It was on the ramps last time my car was in the garage and is in really good shape.
Saw HLG 1 on a two-tone Bentley Mulsanne on Leeds Inner Ring Road tonight; what a huge, huge car!

Nice number, we’ve got a plate worth more than the car it’s on.

Must be mistaken, that's on a AMG GTS and previously a Bentley.
Probably RUF 1, thats on a black Range Rover Vogue which resides in the Vale of Glamorgan.

After numerous losses, just won my first plate at DVLA auction... and it's for the old man!

59 PLD - his year of birth followed by his initials. He is ecstatic! laugh

On topic, 10 LO on a VW Golf in Abergavenny. Perfect plate for the Welsh name Iolo.

Bloody lovely. I'd often looked out for my initials and year of birth.

I lost out on one last night - OOO 100S - £2.4k + fees. £250 reserve, went straight to £1k but once it passed £2k I bailed. The one I really want is up at lunchtime today. Prepared to go higher than I perhaps should really.

It's weird, because I requested my year of birth and initials in same format (i.e. 12 ABC) 18 months ago, and it's still yet to go to auction.

I requested my fathers registration late last year, and within a few weeks it sprung up in the current catalogue. Would be interesting to know if someone else requested 59 PLD some time ago.

Best of luck for this afternoon.

well done! (and a good price for something that means so much...)

as I understand it - it hits a catalogue when there has been at least 2 requests - because there is then a hope that several will bid against each other and the price will go up - one request = low result...

wouldn't surprise me if some people had friends also request their plate to trigger its inclusion (though presumably with a bit of subtlety with regards to geographic location & timing...)

I won my first ever plate at an auction yesterday too, one for the kid (when he gets older).

I knew about the fees etc. but £1500 becoming >£2000 is quite annoying!

I noticed URO106Y in the catalogue. I’m sure they’re a very skilled profession but I’m not sure I’d want to advertise it!

Won ?

Won what exactly ?

First time I've ever read that spending a couple of grand leaves you with the thought you've won something, each to their own I suppose.

How do you go about requesting notification when a plate goes up for sale/auction with the DVLA? Didn't see anywhere on their site unless I missed it, or do you have to ring/email?

>>> Checking the availability of a personalised registration number not found on the website

Not the easiest to find - hope this helps.

Are you sure? This has been on a Bugatti Veyron for some time.

100% - going into the King Alfred Leisure Centre car park up Hove end, mid afternoon. Stood out a mile.

Must have switched it over, assuming it still belongs to Afzal Kahn.
