Not his well known fly fishing elderly relative ?
No matter which one was driving, it must have caused a Jam.

A bit off topic but I'm genuinely surprised at your disdain towards racism when your views towards cyclists are well known on here. According to Dr Ian Walker, a psychologist at Bath Uni, you may have a lot more in common with those people than you think.

"What you see in discourses about cycling is the absolute classic 1960s and 1970s social psychology of prejudice,” he explains. “It’s exactly those things that used to be done about minority ethnic groups and so on – the overgeneralisation of negative traits, under-representation of negative behaviours by one’s own group, that kind of thing. It’s just textbook prejudiced behaviour."

What a load of cobblers.

I don`t like BMW`s or their take on the Mini......... Does that make me a repressed racist?

Well, no..because you are talking about cars, not people.

But people that make assumptions based on stereo types are not racist either.

Like its not racist to assume that the guy that fell off his horse during a fox hunt was probably a rich white English guy, and the child prodigy piano player was probably chinese..

It might be an incorrect assumption, but it doesn't mean you are racist for considering the possibility.

Thanks for the reassurance.

Bet the Psychologist would find a way to make me racist though!

No, thats HH1 (if you read the company annual reports carefully you will see his contribution to the grounds and landscaping).

Do we know yet why the drivers ran away from the scene of a RTA? Very odd if you are insured why run away?

Ignoring the usual thread bickering, is it actually true that the original Hartley car business (and other interests) is now owned by Tom Snr & Carl alone?

Knew that Tom Jr had set up his own showroom but didn't realise there had been such a big fall-out that he had been cut out of the family business.

I don't have views towards cyclists, I have views towards people that cause issues for other law abiding road users, are you suggesting that I should therefore be more tolerant of racism as a result? I think it is you that needs the psychology books rather than I.... or maybe just stop being stupid!

I don't think they necessarily had a big fall-out. The Tom Hartley Cars dealership is a business and THJ would have sold his share so he could take the money and start up on his own.

Generally speaking, the TH and THJ brands are quite different. TH sells more run-of-the-mill sports and supercars while THJ deals in very high-end bluechip vehicles e.g. McLaren F1s, Formula One cars and 1960s eight-figure Ferraris.

Made sense for him to go out on his own.

I follow all 3of them on Instagram and I don’t they have fallen out at all, like you say it just made sense. The 3 of them often photograph each other at family events, THJ and Carl did the Mille milia together last year, this NYE they were all singing together, no evidence of a rift really.

I’ve seen them on Twitter , Tom Hartley senior now replies to his own tweets from Tom Hartley Cars .

I’m assuming his inability to spell correctly is part of the publicity game as well .

I’ve noticed Carl Hartley has gone mute this week ....

On your family land using your (assumed) family money isn't what I would call 'on his own'.

If you look back on the TH & THJ history you'll find he got a job selling cars with his dad when he was about ten years old and he had to buy into the company. So I think it's fair to say (while he was lucky initially) it's his own money that he used to start out on his own.

I'm sure it was super tough for young Tom growing up, but if you're saying that he would be where he is today without his dads wealth behind him, you're wrong.

Yes he owned 50% of his fathers business by the time he was 16, that is fantastic, but there was a business there before him making money and that has got him where he is.

As I said, family money, but good on him doing his own thing rather than just working for his old man, I think we'd all love the chance to be shifting the motors he does.
