The z4mc is being sold by a mate. It's a genuine car and it's not a write-off. The repair process was fully documented and he is totally upfront about it. The car passed an Autolign Inspection with flying colours. Of course the armchair experts on this thread will dismiss it, but those who really want a sepang bronze one and actually see it in the flesh will probably end up buying it...

Each to their own and all that... but it is a trully stunning car in the flesh...

It's not a Cat C or D then?
I wouldn't have expected the seller to mention it unless it was.

It isn’t ... If anyone genuinely cares they should call the number, if not, then it’s mere idle speculation and cr4p, which I thought was beyond the usually enlightened membership of this particular thread...

In fairness, reading the advert with the reference to the work done including chassis inspection, the HPI register does seeds of doubt where your posts say there is none.

I would ask why would someone subject the car to the inspection and get that reference on the HPI register if it wasn't mandatory?

I will guess the answer is that it was done in the interests of transparency and thoroughness and it's nothing to worry about. But, the HPI register reference will put people off. I'd suggest the advert could do with some extra clarity around that aspect.

Agreed. (I haven’t read the detail on this specific point, but agree that this thread is usually one of the few good places on the Internet).

But what’s going on? The thread has been in the duldrums for a while now.

I know I wasn’t an early or significant contributor but I’ve enjoyed many of the tangents we’ve been down over the years... is there any energy left for revitalising things?

In other news, we took the Integrale on a half day tour of the cotswolds with The Classic Motor Hub in Bibury last weekend. It was excellent to be out using a car again and good to meet some other like-minded souls!

More photos here.

I spend more time in the 1-5 Barge thread these days. This one feels a bit like it's lost its mojo.

I thought it was a reasonable assumption to make.
However, I'm obviously not a suitable class of contributor to this thread so I'll just keep quiet like a good little girl in the future.

Seems there is some Post lockdown blues going on in here, madness when you consider the bounty of motoracing on the TV following another great LeMans and 24h of Nurburgring coming up next week.

Leading to the obligatory track slag

Love the colour, like the mods, not keen on the wheels, don't dislike them but a set of Gold BBS LM's would sort that. Low miles, all looks in great shape, recon it will hit 16K-18k.

I think I’d go so far as saying I don’t like those wheels on a 996. Or a non-turbo 997.

Great looking car. And they’ve certainly done a good job of making the car sound great.

At a much higher price point I also quite like this (again I don’t like the wheels).

Or its just a similar car.
Well the magazine does seem to have an article about the Z4M Coupe so it ties in.

Someone on a Z4 dedicated forum compiled a database of Z4Ms and based on that only 10 Sepang Bronze Coupes were registered in the UK, so it's a 10% chance the one in the article is the one being sold!

And 4 of the 10 got together recently for some photos.

But while it may be a rare colour I prefer mine in Silver Grey.

Although in an ideal world I would have an Imola Red or Interlagos Blue one with Sepang leather interior, when only 600 or so made it to the UK you can't be too fussy unless you have more patience (and budget) than I had. laugh

That sounds too much for a Cat D car. Also write off for a gearbox fault? How does that work?

I quite like those wheels in the factory finish. Much better than the 997 Turbo wheels on the blue car, which should be confiscated and turned into metal banana hammocks.

I don't like them full stop. Never have. The split spoke designs on Turbo S are much nicer.

Surprised to see a Cat D car getting a favourable mention here. I'm pretty sure that's been for sale for quite a while. Probably because its basically the cheapest 997TT manual for sale. There are a couple of other cat d 997TT manual cars lingering in this price range.

Yup, Turbo wheels not good, but don't look terrible, and worth money in exchange for something more appropriate. Not sure why you would have specced them on a turbo when the Twists were the only way to go.

Red one is lovely, but the wheel colour is ghastly.

Cat d is a problem, especially as it is quite vague, perhaps corrected after much legal wrangling by Porsche?

Eitherway, it is low miles with new clutch, IMS bearing and RMS done, which with those impending on mine, know they are the costly items. Its been serviced pretty regularly with specialist, and looks in good shape, think it will nudge 16K, but would be a great track toy that can be added to and tailored in the future.

Augmented wheels do 19" Twists which would look good on that

pretty sure Porsche didn’t make the wheel style on that 996 in18”, so they’ll be cheap copies.

They look st on a 997, and even worse on a 996.

Oh! You should have quoted that post, you made me question your Porsche beard and good taste laugh

You're correct, they didn't make those for 996 and I don't think they made them in 18" biggrin
