Golf GTI that the wife used to have - a three tape pack of the Three Tenors - and the car had a CD player.... errr, not sure where they came from. Still got them in a drawer somewhere! How sad is that?

12 yrs ownership, and just found out today that the rear hatchback on my Merc C class estate can be opened with the key! Except it doesn't seem to work!
On my 1988 S500 you could open the boot with the remote, only it involved holding the button on the key down for something ridiculous like 15 seconds, which is way longer than you would ever bother doing.

My father had an XJR in the mid to late '90s. One day, he'd misplaced his normal key and took the green one, only to find that his briefcase and everything he wanted/needed was locked in the boot by the valet mode (triggered by the green key, which he thought was just a spare).

Another interesting thing was a Marathon bar, with an expiry date in 1986. This was in a car built in 2002.....

It's a bloody nuisance when you drop your iPod down the seat and then a displeasing song comes on. frown
Then I found out the seat bases are stupid and fat and stupid and fat and stupid, this lead to the discovery than an iPod is a lot thinner than an arm.
What I'm trying to say is that my car has annoying seat bases that you can't get your arm in very easily.

You want a Corsa like mine. They have terrific little trays at the sides of the seats which seem to catch everything perfectly. By far the best feature of the car hehe

I'm jealous of a Corsa, that could save me money (losing it going down the seats) and the indignity of getting under the driver seat via the back seat to get your possessions back.

Hey, I found that out today on my three series! A mechanic just mentioned it as part of the conversation! I really must find out what boxes where ticked on that car.

The day I scrapped the old one, I discovered the dimming rear mirror. The new one does it automatically!

Moving up in the world wink

Ah ha, thanks for reminding me.

When I was cleaning out the Porsche 944 I just bought I found one of these selotaped near where the jack lives in the boot. I guess emergency funds in case of a breakdown that was forgotten. Not seen one for ages.

Dropped the rear seats in my 911 to put a travel bag on the resulting space and found two small (factory-fitted) subwoofers behind each seat.

My old man has had his Mercedes for 10 years now (bought new), and I only discovered a few weeks ago that it has one-touch indicators (i.e. you just flick them and they'll indicate 3 times). The tolerance for the one-touch function is so tight though that I'm not surprised he's not discovered it. You have to be within a gnat's cock of locking the stalk left or right before the one-touch triggers hehe

I went to my locked car one day to find the front windows down. Apparently, if you hold the button down too long when locking it, that's what happens.

So your car is locked, but anyone can lean in through the open window. Thanks VAG!!!!.

That in the boot of a Corsa D, in the left hand locker, under where the First Aid Kit is supposed to go, there's a nice falt space, ideal for storing three Pint cans standing up without them rattling tongue out

Oh, and on the glovebox hinge closest to the door, there is a moulded picture of a cartoon shark, apparently he appears on all Corsa's of the period...

I'm guessing it's a merc thing but I missed the one touch press and hold for a smidge longer than normal and it drops the window right down on my other cars - today I accidently hit the drivers side window twice on the merc and it kept on going till it was fully lowered.....

Doesn't work on the passenger side :-(

Found out today if you turn the Lancer off while the wipers are on they will keep going until at the off position so you don't have the wipers across the screen when parked.

Also discovered if you pull the sunvisors down with too much force the screw flies out and gets lost somewhere in the car.

Lastly I think the armrest storage thing may be cooled, noticed everything in there was cold and it felt like cold air was blowing in.

Had a Scirocco for a year and a bit now and have only just discovered that there's a storage compartment underneath where the switch for the lights is on the right hand side.
