Well I'd much rather be able to use the M140i on the motorway and in traffic with adaptive cruise, carplay/android auto and relax in a more comfortable environment and then when the mood takes me, flick it into sports mode and enjoy a much better turn of pace, the ability to drift the car and still have fun.
That's the point of a hot hatch, a car that can do everything.
When we're talking about the best hot hatch who else is taking things like apple car play into consideration?!That's the point of a hot hatch, a car that can do everything.
In my eyes at least hot hatch is a compromise of something that you can use for all occasions, fun/commuting/shopping/business use etc.
The best hot hatch then should be able to do all of these well, so therefore if it can't do them all well, it's not the best.

Renault Megane R26.R, without a doubt. The type of car no manufacturers would ever have the balls to make again at this price point.
Truly astonishing car.
Can’t argue with any of the above. It would struggle to bring the two kids to the park and collect some shopping on the way home. Truly astonishing car.

A hot hatch that only does the hot is just a crap, invariably FWD attempt at a sports car
Yet my Meganes, either 275 or 280 are far closer to a sports car than my M135i was. Far more neutral too and more aggressively set up. And far more capable on track. The 280 even has Android Auto nickfrog said:

It had the impossible job of recreating an icon and it created a car that held true to the spirit. It 'got it'.
Plus it's affordable to buy and run, makes a good noise, tail happy, engaging to drive, hard core enough for track, comfortable enough for the daily commute. It has character of it's own, it doesn't copy a formula. The engine has poke and made a great noise. I even o8je the way it looks.

I know I'm potentially opening a can of worms here but arent the smaller cars like the clio, saxo, Peugeot 106, polo gti etc more super minis? I mean they're hardly useful everyday cars as far as hatches go. Your not gonna get a family of four and a weeks shopping in them. How can the megane and the clio be the same class?
