RE: Toyota GR86 sells out in 40 minutes
Discussion
I get the frustration and the lack of clear communication from Toyota, the fact being a few minutes later in getting your order confirmed has such a big impact on your delivery date and level of communication so far, my order was confirmed at 10.28 I probably lost 15 minutes at the start because I couldn't find the GR86 on Toyota's website! Caught up when Toyota sent me a link but by then I'd been left behind, if it wasn't for I would have been much nearer the front of the queue & would probably have got my car before winter, as is currently not a clue when it will arrive sometime in 2023/24?? But will I cancel not likely if when it does arrive I don't like it I will flip and make a nice little profit, but if I do like it then it's probably a keeper they may even have to bury me in it!😆
I appreciate that everyone is keen to get their cars but there is a lack of perspective. Toyota UK seem to be doing a particularly kack handed job communicating but the good news is they are not building the cars.
The first European customer cars were delivered in Belgium on Saturday May 21st. It seems orders were placed in early March (7th ish). I placed my order here in Switzerland on March 30th and my car is due to arrive in 3 weeks. I know a few more people here waiting and the are being told 3-6 weeks from now.
That's a 2.5-3 month wait from order date, to manufacture, to shipping from Japan to customer. That's pretty damn impressive considering you have to allow 1 month for the boat to zig zag around to all the ports.
Where you have the issue, and I assume Toyota UK are deep in the weeds is submitting which orders go into which order batches.

If some cancel their order and throw their dummy out because they are impatient and out of touch with reality then let them. There are plenty of people out there who would snap their arm off to own one.
Yep, if anyone wants me to have theirs as they don’t want to wait, I’m all ears I just wish I knew what position I was on the waiting list, a bit like being in a queue on the phone!
Looks like the first UK registered press cars are here:

You'll need an unequal length manifold, Fensport are official TRD dealers in the UK and also stock a ton of other aftermarket parts. I'm sure they'll begetting a ton more products in the catalog as time goes on. A load of GT86 parts will fit too.anybody worked out how to get and fit ducktail and whats needed on exhaust / manifold to release a wrx soundtrack

When we placed our order the impression Toyota gave was a quick Leadtime. So I’d worked on around Sept-November, sell our family wagon plus my toy and pool funds for GR86 and an SUV.
The really poor detailed comms over delivery means we’ve just bought a new family car and I’ve pressed my elderly toy into use as a daily. Have kept the order in but just a little clarity from Toyota really wouldn’t have hurt them.

Great review. That seems to confirm the entire 2 year allocation has indeed gone.https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/toyota/g...
Anyone considering cancelling their car must be crackers.

The issue I have with mine is that it might turn up at the same time as the Emira (I originally thought it was a 12 week lead time). I planned to run it until the Emira showed and then sell it. Anyone considering cancelling their car must be crackers.
At this rate, I might have to choose between the cars and sell the place in a queue / cancel one.
