What about all the people who think the 123d/335d/535d are the fastest cars ever made? With a chip, they're faster than most porsches and some ferraris too! Careful though, this thought seems to be contagious.
I had a 123d try to beat me from the lights the other day. I floored it and it took the contagious to catch up.adycav said:

I had a 123d try to beat me from the lights the other day. I floored it and it took the contagious to catch up.I had a flat mate at Uni who said he had a Renault 5 GT Turbo right from the start of uni. But he didnt keep it on the street, but had it in a lockup down the road. Would never take us to see it and would change the subject if we ask.
Some of the many gems were that comming back from his home town he would stay in 3rd and 4th all the way, to keep it on the turbo and thus get back faster. He also used to enter street races and drift it on round-abouts to get better times. Hmm ok.
But the best was when half way through the 3rd year (no longer living in the same flat), I got a call from him to tell me he had past his Driving test with only 4 minors. Classic.

Someone telling me that they were driving along and the injectors "kicked in" forcing them into a powerslide.
Someone else telling me that their mate "found" a turbo in the engine and "turned it on" giving him an extra 100bhp.
I found one in my car as well. Bloody good job as it's a turbo diesel. That said, it drives like the damn thing is missing. Anyone know if I can bolt 4 more on? ;-)Someone else telling me that their mate "found" a turbo in the engine and "turned it on" giving him an extra 100bhp.
All this talk of FS1/E's, I had an AP50, a far superior machine!! It had 5 gears!
One of the "lads" around here had a FS1/E complete with Micron, and a fully "ported" engine. It did 65 "easy". He got nicked and was bragging that he was flat out doing 70 in a 30 limit.
Well, the local paper came out - 42mph in a 30.
I had the pleasure of a GT750 "Kettle". Local flash git had a 650 Katana which was "fully sorted" and would blitz that old two stroke heap easy. I said he's probably right as the GT750 was an old 2stroke design, and it only revved to 7000.
Sadly for him, "Mr Files" had been at the Kettle. The motor was tuned by a Team Suzuki GB technician to the same spec as a TR750 GP Bike, and what it lacked with it's agricultural (downright naff) handling, it made up for in banzai! The whole thing was once in a Seeley Barton frame until it had an argument with an immovable object at Snetterton, and the motor was dropped into a stock GT750 frame, with a set of race spec Allspeeds (no silencing what so ever!) to finish it off. It revved to near 12000, and really came on song where the GT was ready to cry enough!. The only thing the Katana could do was over thrice as many miles per gallon! The Kettle was "good" for 8mpg average, 6mpg if you opened it up. The kettle's speedo went to 150, and it would go off it without any argument.
I let him lead out of the 30 limit, and he opened it up and pulled away. I opened the "regulator" of the steam driven Suzuki, promptly passing him as if he were parked, fogging him out in a cloud of Castrol R smoke.
I returned to the local market square and waited for his return. He came back and said that "I'd lied to him about the kettle". Who me?

'friend' at work, has a supra TT, quick car for it's day i'm sure, and very capable if modded - but for him to tell me his 0-60 is the same as my old E55 amg - 5.5 supercharged V8 somehow I find it hard to beleive! Seems to beleive he raced an E46 M3 and kicked it's ass.... very impressive for a bog standard Supra 3.0 turbo!
Watch this video. The Supra is only running about 330bhp which is only around 10 more than stock.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjzKa3-P4Rc
Ok so they guy can't drive it very well but it is faster.
I'd say it would easily stay with an E55 - and whoop an E46 M3

Also the E55 is near 500bhp, 519lb/ft torque and about 2 tonnes - the supra is even at 320bhp, not a HUGE amount lighter than the E55, I can't see how it would keep up? I've walked away from 360 F1's on two occasions - and the E55 will do 0-60 in 4.6 seconds without using 1st gear...
I just can't see how it would keep up - also as for the e46 m3 - lighter I think? than the supra? and more powerful? would have just assumed it would be quicker than the supra...
Either way, I'd like to maybe hear from some Supra owners? Be interesting, if they are able to keep up with an E55, that means they'd keep up with a Porshce 996 TT + Ferrari 360 which I find extremely impressive!

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I always thought the bog standard supra TT's did 0-60 in mid-high 6's....

You're right of course, but I believe the earlier post may have been referring to the previous generation E55 AMG - 354bhp and 390lb/ft of torque, the car itself weighing in and around the 1650kg mark. Having driven one I can definitely say they feel urgent (as well they should with a quoted 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds) but not exactly rapid. In saying that I can't see a bog standard Supra matching that time, but I stand open to correction. Also the E55 is near 500bhp, 519lb/ft torque and about 2 tonnes - the supra is even at 320bhp, not a HUGE amount lighter than the E55, I can't see how it would keep up? Young lad who worked at my company had a mint green bodykitted escort convertible with a "pro retrim" in white leather (Read Pro as: His Mum did it in PVC). Anyway, dispite this car having an eshaust the size of a straw and and engine note to rival the very best from babylis apparently it had a twin Turbo conversion on the engine.
He had taken the engine from an XR and then added another Turbo. It also had a quick throw 'box, boost control, charge cooler, twin injectors, nitros, supercharger. In fact every time you spoke to him there was something new added. The engine was also fully setup to be a "show car" with braided hoses everywhere....
....of course we had to take his word on the hoses because his bonnet catch was broken so he couldn't lift the bonnet and show us.

When I first met my gilfriends father, He had loads of photo's of him with big glasses and big hair along with his brother-in-law holding loads of trophies and surrounded by old escorts etc (some sort of banger racing), When I asked how he won all them trophies he told me they had lied and cheated. I asked how he had managed this, he said everyone else had a standard engine, the brother-in-law worked for Ford and they had got their hands on one of the early cossie engines before it was known about, no-one could catch them to hit them.
Also confirmed now by brother in law who now works for Vauxhall
