I'd love to know how many of those were ripped apart for spares back in the day. I remember a totally rough coupe going for £17k and people thinking it was nuts as you could get a nice SC for £10 or a good 3.2 for £15k!
Or how many junked the 2.7 as a 3.0 or 3.2 was much cheaper and easier to work on back in the day.

I love the green paint. I like the black leather. I could live with the walnut. But tiptronic - no thanks. The two cars keeping me awake at the moment are... either a 997s manual... or bizarrely I’m finding myself drawn towards the new Toyota Yaris GR. it looks amazing and all the reviews seem to love it. A modern day Integrale surely?

Definitely appealing and their finance deals at 0% are enticing. But then, what will it be worth in two years? If it's the 18k Toyota are saying on their finance figures, that's 16k (assuming you want the circuit pack and a colour) over the two years. I couldn't justify that. I'd probably rather buy one at that two year point. They're talking about selling 1,000 a year. It's not limited build, it's special order. Is 1,000 a year a lot? Will the hype hold the values up better than that 18k number? Never seen or heard of one of these before, shades of 356 about it from some angles with a touch of Panhard from the front

Yeah, those lights are just not quite right, looks like they will light up everywhere but where you are actually driving. Styling is very Panhard, hope they have a different power unit, those Panhards at Classic LM always sounded like someone farting through a straw and were dreadfully slow. I cant imagine the pain of having to drive one in period on the Mulsane, no chicanes and Jags coming past you with some 80MPH speed difference, deaf, Gauloise in hand...
Green, Walnut, Black interior, Tip. Did he turn up at the dealer and just say "Just give me one that i will never be able to sell"

£50k Plus 6% fees. So that's £53k, for an auction purchase.
Plus that comment about the front discs, which are ceramics......
Plus whatever else it needs.
Ascari had it up for £65k. One wonders why they chose to offload it for £50k?
It closed at £47k. Shows as sold as £50k as £47k+ 6% = £49,820. But it does start with a 4 Plus that comment about the front discs, which are ceramics......

It isn’t the only one out there available at around that price either when you ask. I’m not trying to talk the market down, just posting what my experience is.
A sub £50k car tends to have some superficial issues the more expensive ones don’t. The odd bit of paint, panel gaps, modified, 60k+ miles or whatever.
The one linked was a comfort but it looked on appearance to be a decent enough car.
None of the ones I’ve viewed so far would be rough enough to put me off buying them, the more expensive ones don’t look to me to be worth £15-20k more if you’re buying one to enjoy.
If the trade value for a car with issues is £50k then what's the retail with all those issues resolved and aftersales support? Ascari had that blue one up at £65k for a while. I'm not going to speculate why they were happy to offload it. Certainly, on paper, the difference is enough to resolve a number of issues, even allowing margin for profit, tax and warranty. The silver car sold on CC last week had been on the market for years while other similar cars sold for similar, and more, money.
I don't know how much Henry sold the black one he had recently for? I knew that car well, had spent time in it previously as it belonged to a threadist, and it had been bobbing around in the trade for a few years (and had a gap in the service history as a consequence). That would have been worth a look.
A "good" CS is nearer 80 than 50. I was looking at one yesterday.
Good is a subjective term, just keep your wits about you! I'm no expert but do have an active interest.

ETA. That dealer, Pocket Rocket in Shrewsbury appears to source their stock from Collecting Cars. Using their pictures and advert wording in each case.
For example, this E30 bought for circa 5.5k here: https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1990-bmw-e30-3...
