Why is it a VR6 without a V6 engine?
The only reason it quotes VR6 in the title is for ebay search hits. wink
It might be a monumentally optimistic price for a Mk3 Golf but the bits its got on it and the work involved isn't an easy/cheap conversion.

A nice spec on this Golf, but £25K?

£25k for a mk3 golf full of stolen car parts
laugh
To be fair, the advert states (shouts?) "I DO NOT EXPECT ANYONE TO PAY THE ASKING PRICE BUT WILL CONSIDER SENSIBLE AND SERIOUS OFFERS ABOVE £12K"

Wasn't it? The R32 and the VR6 were both sixes I thought?
Yes they were 6 cylinder.

Well they weren't straight six or half a W12, so what were they?

Not in the traditional sense where there are two separate heads. The VR6 had one head but the pistons did incorporate a very narrow 'V'.
So, technically it is a 6 cylinder with a narrow 'V' arrangement which could be considered a V6.

What a pile of st. It was when new, still is now!
Ain't the case with a lot of overpriced Fords in the current climate?
Indeed, but do ‘get’ the appeal with the cossies, this is just, crap.

This is one of the best on the thread because you couldnt pay me to take it. Its so beyond parody pricing.

Agreed, it is one of the worst things I have seen in a while...it isn’t even particularly low mileage!

Where to start...

Weird bump strips on the bumpers, odd badge on the boot, in white when white wasn't cool, crusty non-Ford mats, seat cover so we can't see the driver's seat, dirty interior, rusty arches, different coloured lower sills (repaired?), down turned rusty exhaust, flaps with reflectors, murky coolant, Ghia plastic walnut.

The number plate of the Skoda behind it is quite appropriate.

A delightful motor vehicle!

£57k spent on restoration. I think it’s bloody lovely. Really lovely.

Even if money was no object, I’d not buy it at that money. I’ll bet someone does and locks it away for 20 years.

You could never drive it now which defeats the object of buying it. Nice to see how a new one looked back in the day but nothing more.

A low mileage one fetched nearly 100k just over a year ago at the Silverstone Auctions - not even a 1000 miles on the clock
