Viper and Ford GT possible the Mustang GT 500 and I would imagine that both the STI and EVO would make it and stay within your mod budget. AMG Black series as well

With a power to weight ratio of 213? Amazing trickery. Most places are telling me 4.7. Rather big difference. Top gear are full of st, mag and show.

Do you mean 3 seconds?

Pretty much every supercar out there does it in less than 4, there are loads...........
Actually I suspect the vast majority don't. And only the a few of the modern elite do. But out of the thousands of supercars built over the decades no.

So, which cars can beat 4 seconds 0 to 60 mph?

It seems to me there are quiet a few cars that are in the 4.7 second range, but not so many under 4 seconds.

A few I can think of that are cracking sub 4 seconds are Caterham, Ultima, Noble & Skyline and doing it in standard form.

Now, to make things fair, anyone with enough money could mod any car to perform this target, so a mod limit of say £2000 is allowed!

Cheers for your suggestions,

smile
Depends on your target and intended use tbh.

Sticky tyres, suspension capable of deploying the power and loads of usable power and torque.

e.g. cars like these are probably nearer the 2's in terms of 0-60mph.

The Supercharged VX220 I got a run out in with bald tyres would do it easy, and for under ten grand.

Jaysus it accelerated like a motorbike but more sideways. I reckon on good tarmac and only driver, not much fuel and no sympathy for the clutch it could do it.

4 seconds to 60 really is quick and 3 seconds must be mental.
Go on Rita at Alton Towers, apparently that's 0-60 in around 2.8 seconds. Mental on a rollercoaster, in a car it must be insane.

How about a real Q car - a Bentley Continental Supersport will do it in 3.9 seconds.

Having driven a PDK 911 Turbo - I would struggle to see any other car this side of a Veyron beat it to 60.

Its not about the recorded time, its about the simplicity of doing it.

Launch control on, Revs to 4000, Come of the brake, the car does everything else for you.

You just couldnt replicate the perfection of that start in any other car you drove without launch control - Caterhams included.

Its incomprehendable how the Turbo catupolts you.

And yes - the RS3 has launch Control, which can get it to 60 in less than 4 seconds.

Are we talking about standard non-modified road legal cars?

Thing is, it doesn't feel that quick at all. Probably the lack of noise or drama. 0-62 in 2.2secs.

Stealth at Thorpe Park is quicker, was initially 0-80 in 2.3, upgraded in 2007 to 80 in 1.9, from 2010 onwards it gets to 80 in 1.8 secs.

But still doesn't feel as quick as that sound to me.

Is the RS3 DSG-only?

went to thorpe park at the weekend, and the feeling on stealth as the ride accelerates is truely scary! the main reason is because its done by huge magnets so the acceleration is instant. taking into account a car would need VERY good traction etc to come close

Yes.

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can have launch control with a manual, but I could be wrong.

Autocar only managed 4.3s to sixty in the 4.5...much to my disappointment!

Its unlikely the cerb 4.5 would clock 3.9s to sixty in reality, but at least the handbook says it will!!!
Was that a factory car or a member of the publics car? I ask as many owners cars are way down on power, there is no standard Cerby smile A car making around 400bhp should just about do this.

Ariel Atom V8 surely?

All current Ferrari models for one thing. I expect likewise for Lamborghini.
You don't need a v8 Atom to crack 4 seconds to 60. Even the mid-spec (non-supercharged honda) one will do that.

You can get under 3 seconds with the 300bhp supercharged honda 4.

The factory number for the v8 atom is somewhere in the low 2's (which, yes, I realise is totally bonkers).

How would it work? Unless it was an automated manual gearbox? Are there any examples of cars with manuals/launch control? I couldn't find any.

Racelogic do a launch control.

Also some Holden's have it. It's not fully automated, but will try and limit wheel slip to about 5%. Maybe not ultimately the fastest, but helps make more consistent and does allow lesser drivers to achieve credible results.
