100% this, i see a bit of snoberrish going on here! who really gives a sh*t what car they get, as long it works and it is legal does it really matter!!
I give a sh*t. I'll have whatever car they give me, as long as it can carry out the same functions as my own car.If i got a 3 series as a substitute for a Range Rover i would be p!ssed, as it isn;t going to tow my trailer up a muddy hill. If they gave me some sort of Kia 4 x 4 with a towbar, i would be fine.
EDIT- if it;s just in for a service (less than a day) then i'll take whatever.

when the Mrs got hit in her Fiesta zetecS 3 yrs ago, and with my car in the garage having engine work done, her like for like replacement was a brand new 1000 mile old Mini Cooper S. She was very pleased, wasn’t a bad car to drive either.
I had a rally to marshal on during that time too so she checked with the insurance that i could use it. they ummed and ahhd about it, but eventually said that it was ok as she had blanket insurance on it.
For further info – Copper S doesn’t take kindly too gravel stages![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
Hire company wasn’t too please to get it back covered in forestry mud![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

And that is one of the reasons premiums go up.I had a rally to marshal on during that time too so she checked with the insurance that i could use it. they ummed and ahhd about it, but eventually said that it was ok as she had blanket insurance on it.

You guys are lucky. My car was getting some bodywork done in the winter after someone hit me during the big snow/ice apocalypse of 2010. I had to drive around in a 1.0 litre Peugeot 107 for two weeks.
same thing happened with a workmate. he’s an 18stone professional body builder, when i was in the passenger seat no one else could have got in the car.I’d never heard an engine struggle so much in my life to get up even the tiniest incline!

We can infer therefore that you are the most powerfully built person on PH?I’d never heard an engine struggle so much in my life to get up even the tiniest incline!

I tip the scales at just under 15 1/2 stone and am nowhere near professional standard physique!
there’s a thread somewhere in PH world with a guy asking what car he should buy as his huge muscles have made him ‘outgrow’ his current runabout. He must be bigger than me as he has the need to brag about it!

And that is a perfectly good reason, what I mean is those that moan when they get a corsa when then have a BMW 5 series for example, whena corsa would perform the same tasks ;-)I give a sh*t. I'll have whatever car they give me, as long as it can carry out the same functions as my own car.
