I live near said establishment. I won't say which one but it won't take a genius to work it out.

I cannot comment on their service but they often do burnouts in their own cars on their own car park. As in every weekend and the odd day during the week. Fair enough, I'm not too bothered but it's a residential area and the amount of noise and smoke is not really acceptable. They often have people coming out of their homes to see if it's a stolen car.

If anyone is near, have a look at the tyre tracks in the car park. That's all their own doing.

And then there is the dangerous driving on the residential street (30 limit). Wheelspins on the road at the end of each day are normal but the guy in the Sierra is going to have a big accident soon. I did actually film it as I've honestly never seen anything as bad. And everyone working that day came out and sat on the wall to watch their colleague and you're all on film.

I did go round to speak to someone in charge but that someone is one of the people involved. I was tempted to upload everything to Youtube and post a link here but someone would lose their job over it and at a minimum the police would be involved. It wouldn't be too hard to find out who I am if they saw where it was filmed.

The people that work at the one near me are obviously into their cars (and bikes and gokarts and everything else that is very loud and good for doing dounuts) and perhaps one of them is on here, or someone on here knows one of them? If so, calm it down a bit.
record, upload.

I cringed a little when I read this. Just call it a Focus.
I would, but it isn't a focus.
What is it then?
With that tyre size its going to be a Mondeo I would expect.
Still cringeworthy then.

Dont know them, how about some some Falken ZE 912s for about £60 each posted. Great tyre, as grippy in nearly all situations as the excellent and PH favourite Falken 452, but not as soft so last longer. XL available for same price if it is a big car.

Had a hole in the downpipe of the mx5's exhaust.

Kwik fit were the only place that had a new one in stock and could fit it the same day (daily driver, needed the next day).

Quoted £110, they did the job and even fitted a couple of new studs that snapped and had to be drilled out and didn't charge me extra.

Paid and left with a non blowing exhaust.

Couldn't fault it really for same day service.

Lol, Kwik Fit arn't all bad.

I wouldn't take my car there, but then again, I'm a car enthusiast. I tend to do most work myself.

One thing Kwik Fit did do though, was weld up my dads TR6 exhaust for free. Obviously to try and get repeat custom...They didn't, but fair play to them - hardly any main dealer will even look at your car without quoting a diagnostic charge !

Varies hugely between branches. One branch fairly local to me are just comically crap, completely ripped off the MiL. The work they did wasn't even any good; I'm not very mechanically minded so apologies if this sounds a bit garbled, but a section of the exhaust needed replacing, right by the cat. They used sealant, which due to the position and heat it would incur shouldn't have been used. That then disintegrated and buggered up the cat. Sodded up wheel balancing, more exhaust problems, just totally shoddy.

And yet the Romford guys are absolutely fantastic. Exhaust bracket snapped, so I strung it up and swung into KF. They were busy, but within 10 minutes they'd bodged it back together. They were very honest about this, said it might last or it might need welding, if it does off again here's what to do, because it's not definitely a permanent fix don't worry about paying us!

Very, very friendly, and I sort of suspected that they knew it would come apart and expect me to go back for a 'proper' fix, but it stayed on for months until I did a bit of ambitious speed bumping. I use a local tyre shop for tyres and have a reliable independant garage for the greasy bits, but I'd use them in a flash if I needed a tyre at short notice etc.

I used to be a mechanic. I used to do this even on oil-change services smile

Doesn't take much to wipe an oily rag around the engine bay does it?

Much respect for cleaning cars. It's very rewarding!

All good and well, but did you actually change the oil and filter?

Jesus, who buys a single tyre?
The dealer my new car is coming from does. It will drive me nuts as its a FWD car and the front axle now has one new and one worn tyre - great. And, to top it the new tyre is a "Sunny".

Yes, new front tyres coming up.
A single Sunny - he might as well have spit in your eye. Make sure you drive slow to the tyre place.
My mx5 had a full set of these fitted when I bought it. The journey home was uneventful and a handful of track days hasn't resulted in my fiery death. Suprised? I was laugh
