RE: Nismo unleashed on the Juke
Discussion
"Juke" in Hebrew is cockroach (they thrive in this weather unless you keep your kitchen and bathroom really clean). Interestingly, whoever/whatever chooses the ads to go with PH forums decided to offer me the chance to hit a "juke" with a flip-flop sandal (ie, a mouse click) to win some unwinnable prize.
Your mum has one??? that says it all about this car

Yes. My mum has one. The turbo charged 4 wheel drive variant and it's a good car. Very easy to hoon about with the auto box, surprisingly quick in sport mode too. All right, it's not gonna pin you in your seat, but it's not bad at all. Handling is assured with the torque vectoring 4x4ness and generally I like it. Rear visibility is a bit st, but it has a reversing camera to compensate. I'd definitely have one if I was in the market for a family car.
I love these. If they put one on sale and I were in a position to, I'd probably have it over any other hot hatch I can think of, brilliant little things I sincerely hope companies aren't put off by the negative feedback on its looks, because different is definitely a good thing nowadays!
I used to hate them, the old Nissan Puke, but they've unexplainably grown on me.
Funnily enough I always seem to see them being driven like they're stolen so maybe they are bought by a few petrol heads, and quite a few of them seem to have dark grey front wheels where the brake dust has covered them, suggesting the ones I dont see moving are also driven like they've been stolen.
The "Super Juke" (with GTR running gear) is awesome. I'd love one.

I like the Juke! The other half utterly detests them, go figure. I have driven quite a few and although they are soft they're remarkably good fun to drive. Lots of front end grip and less understeery than most modern stuff. Only driven the 1.6 (might be a 1.4) petrol and 1.5 diesel. Neither engine is particularly exciting but it's got a decent gear shift and pretty good steering for what it is.
Definitely pretty plasticky inside thought, although they seem well enough equipped. Makes a change from the shapeless euroboxes from VAG.
As for tuned up version, much more excited to see the GTR engined version!

Anyways, you can't polish a turd (Juke)...
Um, evidently you can ……… well at least according to the Discovery Channels MythBusters, you can! – in this case, a Lion’s turd ……… http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/mythbusters-polish... )
Perhaps they named it the Juke after realising the styling cues and aerodynamics were similar to one of these;
No, but on a more serious note, apart from the two fugly elliptical shaped front headlights (which will never grow on me), I think the Nismo front end is a big improvement over the standard version;
At least they’ve got rid of those three wine bottle holders
I love the Juke, we nearly bought one for my Mrs. The 1.6 DIG-T is a better drive than you might expect, and the interior is funky.
But then we bought a used Galaxy instead as we were planning for a (4th) child...
Forgot to say, in standard form its a nice car - this Nismo stuff is quite inappropriate and looks fecking awful imho.

My wife like them because they are different. I however think the "you do the front and I'll do the back" styling leaves a lot to be desired. I sat in one this summer and the dashboard carries on the haphazard theme. I swear the dials are pointing to the footwell and are at knee height.
The Nismo version does improve things in my opinion. With tighter handling, I can imagine the warmed over DIG-T (is that 180-odd hp std?) with a manual box is entertaining.

More positive response for this little thing than either of the Toyota or Subara coupe offerings!!
Does that mean coupes are out and sporty bug eyed micro SUVs are in??
I like it!

Nissan have done something very very clever with this car - loads of people posting about how they are ugly or whatever - yet they're selling by the shedload. I have no doubt that they'll be uber reliable, bombproof warranty and aftersales etc, but what else have they done? Whatever they've done, hats off to them, so much better than looking at overpriced, grey, bland st (eg. VW).
