RE: Ferrari F620 GT set for Geneva - with 710hp

So where are all the people saying the name lacks soul and passion ???
Funny how these words were directed at the new car from Surrey by a load of people not only on here but also in the media and yet Ferrari name cars as just numbers and 458, F620 and somehow these are different in that respect, mmm I think not

I wonder if the rear quad exhausts will be fake as per the California?
Really? That must look silly starting it up on a cold day.Ferrari aren't exactly the only ones to do it:
Audi R8 V8
Lamborghini Reventon
Bugatti Veyron
Plus loads of others.
Back on topic, won't this new car be called 626 after the engine capacity?

Did they really stop making the 599 last year? As only a month or so there was a press release, including here on PH, announcing the release of the 599 F160 Edition, which is surely being delivered now at absolute earliest? I thought the 599 was put back into production for this final edition - does anyone know the answer?

Is 710bhp not a little bit excessive for a GT car? By all means in a sports/supercar, just seems a bit unnecessary in a GT car. Can't see it being a looker either if it's taking styling hints from the FF.
When you go into a Ferrari show room, given the choice (same price and spec) would you choose a 710bhp F620 or a less powerful F620? loveice said:

If I was after a GT that was easy and comfortable to drive long distances with a sporty edge then less power, but in fairness I wouldn't be looking at a Ferrari for a car like that. Most likely Aston, Bentley or Maserati.I can see the point of this much power in a mid engined supercar, but not in a GT.

The front-engine-RWD model in the Ferrari range isn't supposed to be a GT, it's supposed to be a supercar. As opposed to the 458, which is supposed to be a (super-)sportscar.The FF is the 'GT' model (or maybe the California).

Seconded, in my mind GT cars are more about the torque than maximum power. I would want to be cruising in 6th, then, just step on it to overtake or have an auto box with step down. Of course something with 710 bhp isn't going to have a bad torque figure, but I bet it has the flappy paddles which I think misses the point for this type of car. If I we after a GT car it'd be the Merc-McLaren SLR.
It's not really a GT. Ferrari issued a statement a while back saying it was positioning its cars in two different ranges, GT and sports car. The GTs were the 612 and California (now the FF and California) and the 599 and F430 (now the 599 and the 458). This new car will be in the sports car side of Ferrari. It has GT attributes for sure (luggage space, visibility, useability) but it's not really a GT. The GT is the FF. This is their V12 supercar. The Enzo and upcoming "F70" are limited run specials, not really production models. This is not my opinion, it's what Ferrari have said themselves.Recently i spent the day in London and saw absolutely loads of 599s and a couple of 599 GTOs too, they really made sense. The Aston is possibly a little too discreet for many (myself included) and a Lambo is too loud for most (often you can't be bothered having everyone stare at you) so the 599 was the perfect balance it'll be interesting if Ferrari achieve this again with the replacement...

In written form numbers sometimes look a bit bland, but in spoken form there is often a big difference. To me numbers infer sportiness and are a safe way of avoiding giving a car an awful name. Especially today, where so many names are registered by various companies around the world, the number naming system is a smart option. McLaren need to lose the "MP4" and the "-" part (especially the way Clarkson pronounces it) and refer to it as the 12C, it sounds infinitely better and far less robotic IMO.Funny how these words were directed at the new car from Surrey by a load of people not only on here but also in the media and yet Ferrari name cars as just numbers and 458, F620 and somehow these are different in that respect, mmm I think not
The Five-Nine-Nine, the Three-Sixty, the Four-Thirty, the Nine-Five-Nine, the Nine-Eleven, these are all strong names which very right for super/sport cars.

I wonder how much cash. If it's less than about £300k then the One-77 might be looking a little silly. Though having said that I haven't seen a single review of one, so perhaps I shouldn't judge. Maybe it really is worth a million quid.
You beat me to it - that was exactly my first thought. Desirable as the One-77 undoubtedly is, in relative terms it seems that exclusivity costs an awful lot in that particular case. I imagine the new Ferrari 620 will be priced similarly to the Aventador, and if so, then I definitely agree with your point. It's like the new Aston Martin Zagato - a reskinned, uglier but mechanically identical V8 Vanatage(?) that costs £400k?! Do me a favour! Aston play more on exclusivity and there's plenty of insecure, easily bored customers out there who fall for it every time. For what it's worth, given that it packs 600+bhp and is pretty practical, even a 599 humbles most supercars. So on the assumption that the replacement will be faster, more powerful and better, all I can say is that the Enzo replacement needs to be REALLY special!

Ok, but never mind Ferrari's words. How would you define a GT car? Surely if it was a sports/super car it would perhaps just have two seats (or not) and be slightly more striking? Plus Ferrari/Fiat have the funding/engineers and design crew to make something really inspirational. 710BHP sounds nice, V12 is obv nice. im sure the styling will be usual ferrari nice. But it doesnt set me wotsits on fire! surely if your spending 300k on a car that you use occasionally you want something different.
Zonda or Agera or something a bit mental?! All ferraris seem to be a different engine in nearly the same body, very A la Porsche.
On a side note im loving the fake exhaust pics, got anymore?
