How wouldn't you need to pay the excess VED. Surely if you informed the DVLA they would produce a new V5.

Ive never done an engine swap so Im curious.
I believe the tax is calculated on the orignal C02. Unfortunately MOT emissions tests will be based on the vehicle's age so you'd need a V8/V10 with a decent ECU and cats rather than just dropping in a secondhand small block Chevy which sort of offsets the savings for a toy.

Who said anything about V8s? Just get a 400bhp turbocharged Honda engine in there and you'd still have power + low tax-band!

Hmmm, BMW flat twin or four would be good in a mini too. But it would have to be RWD.

I was at a local Monaro and VXR8 meet last weekend and there was a guy with a 7.1 LS V8 in a Z3. Very nice conversion and absolutely no sign on the outside what was lurking under the bonnet.

Not sure how practical but an E92 M3 V8 into an Elise would be interesting. Or a ZZR1400 engine into a smart car, supercharged!

Dad had a Rover V8 based engine stuck in a Cortina shaped P100 pickup. Not sure of all the mods but it was near 400bhp.

Always liked the idea of a V8 Hi-lux.

Dad's mate (Nick Butler) who looked after his P100 did some Porker 911 turbos into VW campers. And a supercharged V8 into a Model T Ford - it was used as an F1 pace car once.

One of THE most nutty appears to be the Hennessy Venom GT which appears to be a LS9 (Corvette) twin turbo'd 1200bhp unit more or less stuck into the back of an Exige!!!!!! It weighs around 1100kg. Completely and utterly BONKERS!!

6 cylinder diesel engine from a Dennis truck into an R32 Skyline GTR. The engine's are very similar in size, and 1000bhp+ is achievable from it. Just purely to be different.
I'm not saying you are wrong, but I'm very susprised by that !

do you have a link to some info about that I would be interested to have a nose smile
Dennis Dart Midi Bus to be exact! The engine he means is the Cummins B Series diesel. We got the 12 valve mechanically pumped version in the Dart bus, the Americans have the 24 valve electronic one in the Dodge Ram pickup. They are ludicrously strong, being heavy old pushrod lumps and will produce 1,000-2,000 HP with ease. Generally found with a twin, sequential turbo setup. The truck engine is a 5.8 litre. Some Daf (if memory serves) lorries got the bigger, 7.2 ish litre version. I've not heard of that being tuned for power; but can't see why not.

What I've always wanted to do was find a Fiat 600 Multipla shell and modernise it all and fit a bike engine. So I would be left with a very innovative 6 seat MPV, 50 cm longer than the original Mini that be perfectly capable of everyday life.

Ps: It's a shame not many people know about this car as it had 'fold into the floor' seats 50 odd years before the Vauxhall Zafira

Fold into what is left of the floor seats, surely ?

That's one way to get round Porsche engine reliability issues whistle
The engines are totally reliable. The issues arise when tts buy the cars and cannot afford to service them properly. The 928 engine will do over 200k miles without having the heads off if it is serviced properly. The later engines (32v, quad cam) rev like a complete bd and are bulletproof if looked after as Porsche recommends.

I came across a FB page for 928's and it was full of hill billy ye-ha tts, who's only recourse was "stick a sbc in there mate it will be awesome and put it on 20" blingers. For fks sake you fat pie eating caravan dwelling gene deficient oddity, if Porsche thought fit to stuff a fking push-rod truck engine in there, they would have called it a fking Viper.. oh hang on.

"Yeah but them wheels look sick man" Sick - yes they do. I should imagine that Ferdinand is currently slammin his penis in the door of a microwave at the moment trying to think of reasons to carry on.. I have a seen a copy of the actual service bulletin from Porsche saying "Do not pue ze big fkin rims on ze car it iz not designed to take zem and you fk it... grrrrrrrr "Yeah man but that's bks.. I've done loads of track dayz and me wheels aint cum off yet so they are talkin st mate." Aaaarrrrggghh! I not your fking mate you trailer homed tt headed weasel fish, one of the reason we don't modify the cars is because we are on classic insurance, don't you have insurance out there or is the fking wild west still? "Der, no we can modify our cars all we like and it makes no difference maaaaaaate also I've read that report and it was only released for European cars and it don't apply to us in the US" Uuuuuuuurrrrrgghhhhhhh! You dough headed plankton eating mouth breather.. all of our cars shame the same bearings and axle specs.. how can you possibly think that because the legislation was written in Europe er where the car is made, that you are exempt from the safety guidance?...

BMW M3 V8 engine in a mk1 MX5.

More power than it can handle, but that's part of the pleasure.

My cousin has put a Suzuki Cappuccino engine in an Axiam. The Axiam had a 500cc two cylinder diesel originally, so the Cappuccino engine fitted perfectly. Power-to-weight is much improved compared to the donor Cappuccino...

And he has a second Axiam which is planned is to be the new home for a Kawasaki 600 engine, so a bike engined micro car/quadricycle
The original master plan was to fit a Mazda rotary and convert it to rear wheel drive...nuts
Pure genius that!
