Why did people chop those horrible glass sunroofs into cars back in the 1980s?
They were crap at the time and are just awful now.
It was bad enough in an old Mini, but to attack an XJ with an angle grinder is just sacrilige.
Love the John Steed clip. Bowler hat, umbrella and Jag. Magnificent.

About 4 years ago a guy near me bought an immaculate Daimler version of this on a P plate.
It truly was a thing of wonder.
I don't know the guy and never spoke to him, but I did put a note under the wiper when I saw it diissolving before my eyes. I t had been immaculate but he got it dirty, Left it like that left it out all the time. The chrome started to rust, it was obviously getting wet inside as it was always misted up.
My note (written when a little drunk) went along the lines, if you can't look after it, sellit to someone who can before it becomes a total wreck.
Dunno if he read the note but a short while later both cars were replaced with a nearly new 6 series BMW.
Love Jags and as I had 3 cars at the time, I was not in a position to make an offer for it. Mind you without a garage, I would have really not been much better as an owner.
Did anyone have the Corgi XJ12C? I had two, both police cars.

By all accounts they're made from the original Broadspeed molds too!

Oh yep...the police car, the dark metallic blue & the red one...& a mate had one in yellow...there was even a coastguard one, I think...hence always wanting the real deal, but never quite having the required bravery...carinaman said:

Can anyone tell me which 80's TV show had one of these in the opening credits? It had wide pumped up arches and wide tyres.. I'm thinking Minder but not sure!
Not the Avengers, you are thinking of the Equaliser, with Edward Woodward.Avengers was seventies.

Enjoyed this clip, partly because I was looking to buy one of these around 1992-ish (but couldn't find a decent one then!) but also because the David Price Racing van in the background at the start belonged to my ex-wife's father. The car in the article doesn't look half bad for the money, went past Jaguar specialists Arun on Monday and saw they have a number of good-looking XJS on the forecourt as well as a few E-types. No XJ-C though.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l_Bz_OHhxg

A friend of mine owned a very rough but even rarer manual V12 XJC!
All the v12 manuals xjc are converstions not factory ,i no coz i done mine myself using the 4 speed box out of the xjs 1975-1979 ,you could buy a 4.2 manual coupe which used an over drive gearbox from the factory.carinaman said:

Bravo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l_Bz_OHhxg
I shall show others and claim it was a find of my own
One of the cars I lusted after when I was 14, so a huge soft spot. All that is required is money - and quite a lot to do a decent job.
