Does no-one else worry that if someone is sticking to your tail on a good stretch of B-road, that it is an unmarked car? I only tend to enjoy it when I have slowed down and had a look at the person driving and checked there are no extra bits of kit on the dashboard etc!
I had this before. I was coming home late one night and a plain white focus estate pulled out behind me. We were on a great stretch of road, but I wasn't going to risk it. I backed off and let him overtake to check, before overtaking him back on the next straight and a good 10 minute hoon before pulling up at the first set of red lights when we got into town with a thumbs up to each other before going opposite ways.

I do love driving and now I love riding too having past my bike test last month. I've done around 120 miles of hooning on the new (to me) bike this weekend alone.

all very nice and we are all guilty of using the loud pedal to vent some frustration or get some enjoyment. Personally it nearly killed me and frankly you might think the roads are empty until you meet someone with the same assumption. Without sounding the killjoy, id keep it to the track not the queens highway. Totalling your car, yourself or worst still someone else is a millstone around your neck for the rest of your life. This country is just too conjested for hooning in my humble opinion.
Sorry where does it say anyone is driving dangerously? I shall repeat myself:

I don't really break the limit anyway. That's half the fun, getting a really good drive within the limits.

Had a quick blat along the Cat n Fiddle a couple of weeks ago and had a 172 cup appear out of one of the side roads. I expected to actually have some fun with him as he came up behind pretty quickly, sat on my bumper until a mate in front of me went for it, I went with him and the Clio had disappeared within 3 corners.

A short while later on he appeared again too inches off my back bumper and tried to go inside of us both on a blind hair pin! We sped up again as he seemed to be wanting to make progress and again within a couple of corners he was nowhere near. Couldn't work out if he was just a straight line hero or a tt to be honest.

Good few years ago, left my mate's house on past Braemar heading back towards Perth (really not feeling well) in my Leon Cupra (the 180bhp one) and got past by a Merc obviously on a quick run. Kept up with him all the way back until the last few miles we went a different way.

Focus on the drive back completely distracted me from how I was feeling until the adreneline backed off and I had to stop the car and lose my breakfast.

Absolutely great run back but really went to show how much it took my attention away from feeling like death! Final few miles were not enjoyable after I realised just how tired and sick I was...

Actually used to drive for the sake of it all the time. Did it on Saturday night but that was as much to get out of the heat in my flat as anything else. Can't remember when I did it before that. Sad sign of getting old!!

You live in the most congested bit of the country. There are massive areas which are not at all congested.

I was driving past my local McDonald's last Thursday night and it was full of cruisers it reminded me of the days I first passed my test lol

I got my quarter pounder and cheese meal and left to head home now when driving a mk 2 focus rs in bright green it's hard to not get youngsters trying to race you in there little saxo VTRs and 1.2 corsas at the best of times. But on this particular night I got on route and had a Nissan gtr in the rear mirror with just a pack of cars behind it There was type r civics vxr Astras to Audi rs4s and BMW m3s

Off the gtr went flying past and from what I could see everyone was following him so I thought forget the mcds let's have abit of fun off we headed on the country side roads it was great felt like a scene off fast on furious lol

It was all smiles till I went home and actively realised after the exciting evening that there was a large strawberry milkshake all over my interior frown

Was a great. Drive tho so got over it in the end once valeted anyways lol

Agreed, you can’t beat a good hoon. Always puts a smile on my face.

The wee little mx5 is always good fun and cheers me up after a long day in the office. Filling up again afterwards can be a little bit glum but I soon move on.

Twice a year I make a round trip from Toronto to Scottsdale AZ , using a lot of ROute 66, sometimes round tripping up through Utah and the Rockies. There is nothing like the feeling of an endless road, knowing that at any turnoff there could be something amazing........

I more meant his positioning and the way he drove. Speed certainly doesn't = good driving. Quite the opposite sometimes!

Well I had a hateful day of driving today! As I mentioned yesterday I was going to the EVO triangle but with all of the carnage on the motorways around here I decided to head out to Southport.

I thought I'd take in the formby bypass, the southport coast road, the road over to Rufford and Parbold.

OMFG I did 98 miles in heavy traffic, the coast road was closed and when I did find a decent stretch because of the never ending threats about speed cameras the fun was over in seconds frown

I got stuck in endless stretches of roadworks and caught behind countless caravans / trucks / mongs.

To top it off I had the roof down and got a burnt head.

I've decided that UK roads are no fun especially in a 340bhp roadster that desperately wants to stretch its legs.

Ouch. I got stuck for about 5 minutes on the M56 due to an accident but otherwise fine - had great day's driving on the evo triangle and the pass of llanberis.

Every so often the opportunity comes along and you have to take advantage. 3 weeks ago the chance came up:

Hartford in cheshire, up the A556, across to macclesfield and over the C&F to Buxton.
Buxton to Doves Holes to Sparrowpits, then across opposite rushup edge, down Winnats Pass,
Into Castleton and all along the Hope Valley to Hathersage, then over to sheffield via Burbage bridge and ringinglow road.

All between 1am and 2.30am on a sunday morning, in the mrs MX-5 (roof down, beanie hat on - don't care if I looked a tool!). Best cross-country blast I've done for some time.

I can do it in three days with co-driver one way. The big loop back across the Rockies adds distance so its about another four for a round trip of 6000 miles. There is some unforgettable experiences on the way.
