RE: Facelifted R8 vs 991 Carrera 4
Discussion
In the mid 1970's our next door neighbour was a young, dashing batchellor and serial Porsche owner.
The last car I remember he had, before we moved away, was a brown Carrera. Top marks to Porsche for breaking from the white hegemony. The 991 wears the colour well IMHO. Just needs an 8 track.

Neither. GTR will eat them both at a fraction of the cost. 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. (spare me the 'it's not exotic enough' rhetoric - a GTR has so much swagger and pedigree its oozing it)
Yeah but...its a Nissan. Doesn't matter if it does 0-60 in 1 second, its a Nissan. I don't want a Nissan on my drive.raptor600 said:

But if youre spending £60k - £120k on a car, then yes, I'd want something abit more special than a Nissan.
So you don't think it's special 'because it's a Nissan'. So it is totally to do with the brand. As I said - have you even been in or driven one?

Yes, I have. Good, fun, very quick. I still dont want one. Although to be honest, you could take the badge off and stick a bugatti badge on, I still wouldnt buy one, it looks huge, not a very elegant shape. Why are you getting so upset that I don't want your car? Plenty of people wouldn't like mine, this does not bother me.
I'm not upset It just boggles me someone could say "I don't want one, it's a Nissan" - regardless of how good a car it is. Afterall, this is a car enthusiasts forum.

To be honest, I am completely aware that everyone has different opinions and wants different things. But you did call me a "willy waving tosser", what sort of response do you expect?
I said that in response to your comment that you wouldn't buy it "because it is a Nissan".I still stand by the fact that to come out with that, it is highly likely, you are a willy waving tosser.
Don't take me too seriously though...I don't

My initial post has vanished... I would choose a Carrera 2 over a 4 (for reasons discussed in a previous PH article), but for R8 vs Carrera 4, I'd be very tempted to go for the Audi, to me it seems more 'supercar' than a high-grade Porsche 'sportscar'. A totally subjective and vague reason, but I'm sure plenty of cars have been bought and sold on the strength of less. But I'm never going to be in the position to chose.

I bet you spend your friday and saturday nights playing Gran Turismo.
Not really - I have the real thing...which I bought because I liked it - not because of what my friends would think about the badge.Anyway, don't want to take up anymore time clogging the thread.
I just think it's a shame when someone is so blinded by a badge (probably through ignorance as the GT-R brand has been around and competing in motorsport for longer than most).
And I would pick the R8 over the 4S.
