Stickered-up rally reps.

Renmure, that is exactly what I was talking about. Forgive me for watching too much fast'n'loud and talking like a redneck but that is kickass.
It was my mental image of a Rally Car from the era when I used to be interested in the sport.Standard Tommi Mak isn't exactly subtle but the rally look does take it to a different level. It did get a wee bit too much attention but I suppose that is hardly surprising.

Are these expensive?I think they are great VFM, HSE spec with every toy LR could throw at them and very rare but a little bit unsubtle for some.

Never understood as to why keeping nostriled bonnet if you have front intercooler? Seriously. It would only harm.
The nostrils don't affect the intercooler afaik. They let air out, not in.legless said:

I'm pretty sure that the 08s are rarer than most - they were built, but the challenge was canned before they actually went anywhere. Hence, they've not had the challenge abuse, and they're the last of the line.Stugots said:
yahtzee's old car. sweet as...
Here's some epic lurking for you!I had to post as that's my old car too - I picked it up in 2009 in a bit of a state and converted it to traditional green/red Castrol livery. It didn't have those wheels - had some nasty Wolfrace ones. Has any car ever looked good wearing Wolfrace alloys?!
I'm glad I saw the idea through and did a rally replica. Some parts of it were really enjoyable and a lot of the attention it received was positive. To anyone considering it, just be prepared to attract the wrong attention alongside the right. Every police car you pass, idiots with something to prove (usually that they can't drive) and jealous scrotes who like to pinch bits of vinyl while you're enjoying a meal out. The experience made me appreciate the brilliance of a sleeper, which I've stuck with ever since. I much prefer exercising my cars performance when I see fit, feeling no anxiety towards 5 series estates and enjoying my meal knowing someone's not nicking a souvenir off my P&J!
But if you want attention and can't afford a Ferrari, a rally rep is a good way to go and I fully recommend it. I think J555 is still out there. I sold it to a chap fairly local a few years back.
Some pics of my mates car, now de-stickered.

I don't have the big vent anymore, has a RCM rear facing one so it draws air through and out instead of ramming it back in. Can't afford to do all the mods in one go though.RB Will said:

Perhaps the key is good, careful fitting to a cared for base car. Around my way, the majority seem to live on a council estate...
The thing which puts me off a rally rep is usually the interior. If you want people to think you're rolling around in a WRC special, who do you think will be fooled when they see the carpets, back seats, etc?

IIRC didn't one area of the nostril provide cooling for the turbo?
The drivers side quarter of the scoop had a couple of vanes in it to direct air to it but I think that was a bit of a token suggestion in the grand scheme of things. There is no ducting under the bonnet and the air has to make it past the inter cooler and inlet manifold before it hits the turbo. I'm presuming the turbo gets most of its cooling from the oil going through it.Bob_Defly said:

Personally I loved stickered up cars BUT ONLY when it is done to the right car., with the power to match the stickered claim.
When I was 17-18, I did it to a couple of cars BUT only had stickers of things I had on the car!!
I HATE seeing boychav cars with a Greddy sticker on a 1 litre Fiesta or a Sparco sticker on a Standard Nova or even a Irmscher sticker on a Nissan which I saw once.

Here is mine. 400+bhp so a bit of bite to back up the bark. It is de-stickered now though. Used to get a lot of good attention when I first had it (about 6 years ago), people asking to take pics or stopping to talk about it but now with all the other pink, orange, blue tatty versions around it just gets seen as another one by most.
Cost to have it done was £350 designed and fitted, had it modified a bit from standard design by having logos for things I had used on the car and things like the Ring sticker on the c pillar.
and at a PH meet
This seems to be getting mixed reviews here, which is surprising tbh as i thought this was PH not mumsnet.Cost to have it done was £350 designed and fitted, had it modified a bit from standard design by having logos for things I had used on the car and things like the Ring sticker on the c pillar.

For me, when i saw these pics of a stickered up scooby in the snow, everything seemed right in the world. That model was one of the better looking ones as well, the bugeye was and always will be terrible. This model and the last of the 2 litres would be my choice.

I don’t like scoobies, sadly I feel they have attracted the ‘yob’ non-enthusiast market but it does look good in that environment!

Hmm, some of them will have the MSA slighty nervous – ‘competition numbers’ on a road car. Uninformed members of the public thinking these are actual competition cars has caused hassle before.
I thought about this on mine which is why where the rally sticker/number would be on mine I have Prodrive 88 (car is build number 88) and having Prodrive there it is not claiming to be on an event. Think that covers me anyway.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
