Sounds like a good chap.
I think the first model should be called the Les.

Where the fk did you pick that random thing from?
Just trying to think of an example of a wet fish who'd never be able to get anything done because they're too busy trying to pleasure everyone. He just happened to be the first one to spring to mind.

If we're going to be all 'BBC' about it, I could also suggest another one, Dave Camoron, in the interests of balance. wink

Have you owned TVRs in the past?
“Yes.”

Which cars?
“That I’m not going to reveal. We are very conscious of that fact that anything that we say before we’re ready to say it could easily be misconstrued.

What an utterly pointless interview. The title should have been 'PH Meets man who refuses to answer any question with a straight answer'; it's all 'Who knows?' and 'I couldn't say'. It's all bullst.

Just tell us you're going to build a powerful, front-engined RWD sports car in an outrageous plastic body. It's all we need to know and it wouldn't breach any 'confidentiality clauses' with the Russian. Persisting with this cloak of 'secrecy' simply removes the man's credibility.

I really wish people would stop being so negative. How about we wait and see what he does and judge then.
To me it sounds very promising with the new owner genuinely caring about the brand and its fan base.

It just seemed a bit odd - you may as well have said Mother Teresa or that bloke who hates Windfarms...

If it's been sold 'lock, stock and barrel' why is there a confidentiality clause?

Surprised by the negativity and cynicism of some PHers, especially as Les Edgar will almost certainly be reading these comments. The guy has put his money on the line, give him a chance, and judge him by his actions.

He speaks very highly of JLR, so it's possible he may approach them for a supply of powertrains.

Quite.

And what have confidentiality agreements got to do with future plans?

Something smells fishy and I'm nowhere near Grimsby.......

Sounds (from that piece) like an arrogant w@nker. A rich one, obviously, but one nevertheless.

Still, wait and see.
How odd, I had totally the opposite impression.

Sounds like a man who actually wants to do the "Right" thing with TVR as he sees it. What is not to like?

Wish them all the best but let's be realistic, we're unlikely to see any new TVR's for a few years yet.

It takes time to agree designs, check compliance with legislation, fabricate tooling/jigs/moulds etc, gear up for manufacturing and so on.

Unfortunately, between those extremes lies a very difficult, and crowded, market place. The mainstream cars are now so fast
I wouldn't say you're looking at that crowded a market. Only things I can think of are american muscle like that new Camaro.
£30-£60k, cheap body, off the shelf engine.

Not that it's really relevant in the grand scheme but he does infer as though they have managed to retain the original schematics or even the jigs &/or moulds?!
Wouldn't mind seeing some original styling cues (as a sort of brand ID) maybe use part of a mould. I.e. brand new car shape but with sagaris front wing "vents" still included.

I read that as TVR will part share with Aston Martin.
That certainly gets my approval! thumbup

I hope they get it right. It would certainly give me something to aspire to own and work for!
