You don’t by one of these using your head.

Bought mine last year off the cuff and those that don’t get it have very sound reasoning.

There don’t offer much BHP per litre,
The build quality is not German (but it’s also not that bad either),
There’s still the Rover stigma

That said the Rover 75 and MG ZT received good reviews and was not a typical “Rover” product.

All mechanical parts are readily available with very little if any being MG/Rover unique (it’s a Ford Mustang V8 after all!). Body panels will be an issue but there are enough available though breakers atm.

Most irrationally and importantly though is they give a real grin factor. Mine has the MG X-power silencers (if you can call them that!) and it sounds glorious when fired up. It has the full on original V8 burble and roar which no other European car of the time offers.

There’s more than enough power to get you sliding if you wish and torque to out drag the average road users.

It also has the sleeper effect in that most assume it’s a V6 or diesel. I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve been stopped walking away from the car and people asking what the hells in it.

Driving many different modern day hire cars for work they feel much of a muchness. They’re by no means the best car every made but they have real character which gets under your skin (well mine anyway).

7k? Nah.
I'd buy Mazda 6 MPS.
It handles like a dream, will be newer, cheaper and being a turbo - more tunable.

260 bhp from 4.6 litres? That's an impressively crap specific output.

I don't get this car. To me it's a 10 year old gas guzzling, nippy (as opposed to fast) estate that looks like a rover 75 with a bad body kit.
I would agree

I sold my Mazda 3 MPS to get my ZT260. Build quality on the MG is miles higher than the Mazda and so far, its cost a LOT less in repairs. MG 0 - Mazda 2k+

As a result of a Chris Harris article, I bought an Alpina B10 V8S a couple of months ago for the same money as this. One of 42, 375bhp, so well built. I'm biased but I struggle to see why this should have the same asking price. Each to their own.

If a rover is your thing that's fine, but I would take similar amount for my 2 owner 2006 A4 s line,
2.0 diesel 50mpg, 220bhp, full leather ,sat nav, xenons, daylight running lights, 6 disc cd, Bose speakers,
4 new injectors under recent Audi recall, Full main dealer history, 4x new tyres, its alright bean different but at todays fuel prices that rover will be visiting a lot of petrol stations

You do realise the mg zt underneath shares more in common to a bmw than a 75.

boring and dull,? crap engine?
I can see why you would rather have one of the most unreliable cars ever built , that does 15mpg , needs a new head gasket yearly, and is so badly built Rover went bust,
